The Sunday news round-up.

News round-up.
Stop! Press!
With news in short supply today, I thought it was perhaps best to round-up all the news into one handy article which will, hopefully, cover all the bases.

Understandably, most of the press are focusing on the defeat to Stevenage yesterday, which was always going to happen. I won’t go into it too much, but it is the least the players and the manager deserve after such a shambolic performance.

We will however start with the fall-out from our FA Cup elimination yesterday as Alan Pardew issued an apology to Newcastle fans after the game. Pardew claims that the players were running on empty after a tough run of festive fixtures, which begs the question of why he didn’t see fit to play some younger players instead?

Jose Enrique is a rumoured transfer target for Manchester United and Tottenham if Metro is anything to go by, but in my experience it isn’t. Jose loves it at Newcastle and would cost a pretty penny to purchase, which appears to be overlooked here.

Nile Ranger has been urged to knuckle down by Alan Pardew who has challenged the 19-year-old to prove that he wants to be a professional footballer.

Ranger has a bit of a reputation for being a ‘bad-***’, but he also has undoubted potential. Quiet words behind closed doors haven’t worked apparently, so now Pardew has aired the dirty linen in public. Make of that what you will, but if the lad isn’t listening to players like Andy Carroll then what harm can it do?

Next up, long term injury absentee, Dan Gosling, explained in an exclusive interview to the Sunday Sun how his horror injury has helped him grow up quickly.

Gosling is only 20, and my advice to him is to not grow up too quickly, but he has shown remarkable determination to get back to fitness and on the verge of the first team since being told just eight months ago that he may never play again. Well done Dan!

And finally, Alan Pardew has been talking about transfer prospects for the current transfer window. Pardew envisages no more than one, or two at the most, new signings arriving through the door this January.

I can’t say I’m surprised to be honest, and I never really expected us to sign a boatload of players this window. We already have Hatem Ben Arfa tied up, and one or two on top of that doesn’t seem so bad does it? It depends on who they are of course, but the numbers are about what I was expecting anyway.

So there you go. That brings us up to date with news on what is another thrilling Sunday regarding the press and NUFC.

Feel free to leave us your thoughts.

Speaking of Twitter, it was nice of Jose to say he was ill before the team was announced yesterday 😆

  2. Ice, all boards interfere to a certain degree but theres plenty jobs where a can keep your integrity…ish and if not is that the sort of environment you’d really want to work in anyway?…..like I said earlier I think a club like Ipswich would be a canny number for CH, on the outside they seem to be an honestly run little club.

  8. Daft these takeover rumours! Why on earth would they hire pards if this was mooted? Would be interesting
but not if it were venkies type
    people with no money

  9. Well if they are money types they only have 6 months to spend a bucketload of it. A of next season the accounts at clubs start getting tracked….

  10. Well if you wanted to believe rumours and are a conspiracy theorist, then Pardew owes Ash or Llambsarse money so knowing they are selling they hire him with a fixed pay off(the amount he owes). The club gets taken over, Pardew gets sacked and a compo paid, he then pays back fatman and everyones happy…..simples 🙂
I don’t believe that but stranger things have happened 😉

  15. To be fair to Pardew i reckon other than yesterday hes done better than expected, Yes hes a bit of a *** and the “carrying the weight of the Newcastle shirt” **** was cringeworthy but the league form is good considering the matches weve had, We could easily be in the thick of it with the Ws.

If we can bring in a couple of decent players we could have a really good end to the season.
