Game on! Norwich v Newcastle – Simpson and Perch start at the heart of defence

Magpies take on Canaries
Welcome one and all to our ‘Game on’ article which will take us through every twist and turn of the game this afternoon as the Magpies fly to Carrow Road to do battle with the Canaries.

Of course this will be a rather depleted Newcastle side that is tasked with facing the Premier League new boys of Norwich City. As Shamrock points out in his match preview, things are looking less that ideal when you consider our injury list.

However let’s not get too down about it. We can still get a result at Carrow Road although admittedly it would be easier with a fully fit squad to choose from. It’s not to be though and I guess we just have to make the best of what we’ve got and hope those that come into the fold can do the job for us.

As far as stats go you can peruse a wide range of them in the previously linked match preview, or you can have a look at more stats and fact aswell as some chalkboards and other fancy stuff here. I suggest you give both a look if you haven’t already done so as they both contain some really interesting thoughts and analysis of the game today.

If you’re looking for a link, the good news is that there are quite a few overseas TV stations broadcasting the match so the chances of picking up a decent one are fair to moderate. Of course you never quite know until the time and it makes it easier if we all pull together and share any decent links we come across on our cyber travels.

That just about wrap this up and it’s over to Carrow Road where Newcastle will be looking to bounce back from a run of three games without a win against a tricky customer in Paul Lambert’s Norwich City.

Howay the lads!

Norwich: Ruddy; Martin, Morison, Whitbread, Crofts, Holt (C), Surman, Hoolahan, Fox, Tierney, Naughton

Subs: Rudd, Johnson, Jackson, Pilkington, Bennett, Barnett, Wilbraham

Newcastle: Tim Krul; Ryan Taylor, Danny Simpson, James Perch, Davide Santon; Gabriel Obertan, Yohan Cabaye, Dan Gosling, Jonas Gutierrez (c); Demba Ba, Shola Ameobi

Subs: Rob Elliot, Shane Ferguson, Alan Smith, Sammy Ameobi, Hatem Ben Arfa, Peter Lovenkrands, Leon Best

  2. Ben Arfa must come on straight away second half for Ameobi because Ameobi is asking for a red card but also I think this game is taylor made for Ben Arfa.

  7. I have to give Perch and Simpson their dues. Coming in like this , I think they’ve done a excellent job considering.

I agree with you Toontom, Cabaye and Gosling have done well.

You can tell Santon has the class and once he gets accustomed to play he’s gonna be a massive asset.

  9. Been impressed with Gosling, very good distributor of the ball. Loves getting forward and seems to have pace within him.

Have to say Simpson has impressed me with his play at CB, seems to be playing well so far

  10. I sincerely hope Ben Arfa runs out straight away because I have this feeling that Ameobi is gonna get a red and that’s the last thing we need .

Alan, if you are on your Iphone reading this, get Ben Arfa on or I’m gonna pull you off….I mean I’ll be having words with you. 😀

“MARK I’ve had a few tugs over Cabaye’s posters on my wall and I’m not ashamed to admit it”

dear me, tugging over Cabaye. he’s only 5ft, a bit like jimmy crankie.. he’d look **** in tights 😯

if you watch the game how many balls has Ameobi keeps, almost 0, and he does nothing, he is no able to make a pass, he is really **** on this game. Last match Benarfa was sent off at half time and was much more better than ameobi this game.

  13. Well watched the first half and just caught up with comments on here. Fortunately I narrowly avoided topping myself after reading some comments.

Was I alone in expecting a tough game away at a newly promoted side with half of our own first team out? Seems that way 😕

I forgot, we are the might Newcastle United and are so massive we should win before a ball is kicked… 😉

  14. everything about that goal was quality, the ball, the movement, the touch, the finish.
Come on lads, here for the taking this like…….but for who?
    duh duh duh…..

  15. @HBA39….you’re talking bollocks mate no offense but you’ve been saying Shola is **** from minute 1 almost.
I like ben Arfa as well but if you watched without your Arfa tinted glasses you would note that he’s not exactly set the league alight this season. Give him some time and he probably might but in the mean time get off Shola back. Hes doing his best which has saved us a time or two

Shola could score a hat trick and still get slated by some of the fickle ‘fans’ on here 😉

  19. Hey up girls and boys. Suprised Kadar did not even make the bench, I guess this means he has no future at NUFC then. Shame, must be a workrate thing?

How have we played so far? 🙂
