Game On! Newcastle v QPR

St James' Park.
Game On at St James’ Park
Newcastle take on QPR this afternoon in what could tentatively be described as one of those “relegation battle six-pointer” affairs at St James’ Park.

It’s also our last home game of 2012 and with Christmas just around the corner the fans attending St James’ Park this afternoon will undoubtedly want to be sent home happy ahead of trips to Manchester United and Arsenal which conclude our festive fixture list.

The need for three points couldn’t be greater, but it’s a need both sides have as league position isn’t looking pretty for either club right now. Newcastle currently sit 15th but could drop to 17th if results go the wrong way, whilst QPR could end up bottom of the league should they suffer defeat this afternoon and should Reading manage to pull of what would be a surprise result against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

The importance of this game has been described in great detail in many places so I wont go into it too much more. My match preview, which you can view here, is one of said places but that isn’t all it includes. You can get yourself up to speed with all the injury news ahead of the match, take in some fun facts and have a trip down memory lane all in one place.

Being a 3pm kick-off on a Saturday means that unfortunately the game isn’t being broadcast live here in the UK. However there are a number of overseas broadcasters who are showing the match so hopefully, if you can’t get to the match itself, you can join us on here and watch it online. Normal rules apply so if you find a stream please feel free to leave a link to it in the ‘comments’ section below.

Which just about wraps this up. Team news will be published in full below as and when it becomes available. It’s my last day in the UK before heading to Europe to work over Christmas, missing my boys first Christmas in the process. I’m pretty pi**ed off about it in truth but a win would be a decent way to put a smile on my face, at least for a day.

Howay the lads!

  1. 4 3 3 with Jonas as the left of the 3 😯 and I dare say Cisse will be on the right 😕 or maybe Pards will be brave and start Cisse in the middle 😆 😆 😆

  2. Would have liked to see Marveaux in the front 3, rather than Jonas, but otherwise what I would have gone for. That said, the team pretty much picks itself at this point …

  3. Would of liked too have seen Ferguson down the left and the bench sums up our troubles , not 1 defender on it .

  4. Well Wigan beaten by Arsenal the day starts off well for us now 3 points agaist QPR and we have a little breathing space going into Xmas . HWTL

  5. Jonas again…he was probably our worst player last match in the same position. Why is Pards so stubborn? Maybe Jonas can get a wondergoal against this seasons (so far) whipping boys as usually they’re the only ones he can score against….More than likely he’ll just be **** yet again.

  6. Dave ,no joy mate ,looks like it’s motd tonight then for me . I got a new computer ,last one died and so had to fork out £450 on top xmas 🙁 Never had problems like this on the old one though 🙄 .

  7. Kim you aren’t really missing much mate. Lots of possession but not a lot else. Anyone remember a time when the armchair gurus used to bang on about having lots of possession? 😆

  8. Kim-what Browser you using? I can’t seem to stream matches on Chrome anymore, so I use firefox for the games.

  9. And Gutierrez again like the other games not able to beat his man crossing for anyone, just triying to obtain corner or fouls, very clever when we know how good we are from setplay

  10. Alreet folks, can’t believe the line up with Jonas attacking LWF – mental Al mental!!.
Missing the match coz at graft, how we looking?
Is it a nervy affair or is one team looking to win this?

  11. Just arrived and watched 10 minutes, I have to say this is the biggest load of cack I have seen for a long time. 2 dreadful free kicks from Ba, QPR are absolutely pathetic, Cisse asleep on his feet.

Hell man Perch. Belt the damned thing in the net ffs… 😯

  12. Without Cabaye and HBA we jut look so lacking in creativity! It really is poor.

We look as likely to score as QPR and they haven’t had the ball!! That is sad.

    Effort is here though…

  13. This looks like a relegation battle between two very poor and low in confidence teams. Very poor and boring so far, it’ll be interesting to see if we perk up in the second half.

      (Quote)

  14. Santon and Ba need to shoot from outside the box. We all know that the QPR goalie is useless.

We are going down playing like this.

  15. QPR look so bad and we look like we can’t put them out of their misery. This looks less like “the best league in the world” than an audition for the 2nd best league in England.

We’ve kept possession pretty well, but with no menace at all. But with Tiote and Perch in our central midfield, there’s not much creativity around. Why not give Obertan and/or Marveaux some time?

I guess Pardew is scared to lose more than he wants a win here… Is this damage limitation till after the epic transfer window spree?

      (Quote)

  16. Munich-Apparently shooting from outside the box makes you selfish! I agree though, we may as well pepper Green and see if he fcks up and lets Cisse have a tap in. We certainly don’t look like cutting them open any time soon. Ball constantly out to the left but there’s no real delivery. Anita’s been alright, corners improved a bit, but we still don’t look like scoring a proper corner goal.

  17. Someone need to draw out ryan nelsen and allow other players chance to shoot.. Ryan has been blocking all the pass from Jonas to the box. 👿

    OR STOP ATTACKING THAT LANE.

  18. Can’t quite believe some of the negativity on here. Yeah, we haven’t looked great – but that’s to be expected given our general lack of confidence.

Yes, it’s QPR – a side with twice as many points as us in the last 5 and who are undefeated in the same period. What’s the old addage? Something about no easy games?

      (Quote)

  19. Newkie…. Santon is the clue to this game today. QPR are ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC, make no doubts about it.
They are offering nothing on there right side going forward. Swap Jonas with Santon and let him batter them down the left hand side. Running at them, or cutting inside to shoot.
Jonas stuttering with his standing start crosses from the left wing just do not work. Also bearing in mind that the two toon strikers in the middle are too terrified to jump 🙁

If Pardew cannot work that one out then he needs his heed looked at 🙁

FSOC “I guess Pardew is scared to lose more than he wants a win here”…. never a truer word said mate, because believe me, they are useless. If this is an improvement after ‘Arry taking over at QPR then he has really a job on his hands 🙄

      (Quote)

  20. Blip, I accept the negativity tag, because I have been totally negative today. That’s just because I recognise a poor team when I see one.

p.s. If the astronomically well paid manager cannot turn around these astronomically well paid athletes in the second half, then I say for the first time …… Pardew out 👿

      (Quote)

  21. @BLIP

“Can’t quite believe some of the negativity on here” Hope you are joking. Ok we are low confidence team at the moment, but if we continue like that we will stay low confidence team and be in the bottom 3 very quickly.
What the **** Pardew is not trying to change something, introduce Marveaux just to see what happen.
I m just afraid Tarabt will receive the ball in a good position not far from our goal and he will score and the game will be over.

  22. Seen this too often at home this season. 0-0 and we make a mistake ending up losing the game, Swansea being a classic example when Krul kicked it straight to them

      (Quote)

  23. For me ton insist with Jonas, who has not skill no talent and to continue with Cisse in the right just to have Demba and Cisse in the pitch and dont make them angry because he is afraid they will want to leave the club after are the biggest mistakes of Pardew.
Other mistakes we all know not buying good players during summer

      (Quote)

  24. as i said Control Tarrabt and we are sure to keep a clean sheet. but if Tarabt starts to be on fire, i m afraid

      (Quote)

  25. Make no doubt about it, we are struggling today because of the managers wrong decisions. It’s so clear and obvious it’s painful.

The QPR guy walked through our central midfield there, Jonas squirmed as if had done a quadruple pirouhette and Perch held his hands up ffs. Tackle the bloke with purpose ffs. These toon players need to LEAD BY EXAMPLE.

      (Quote)

  26. Cisse and Jonas are two players who need to be put out of there misery, and only Pardew can do it. 👿

They need a spell on the bench.

Pardew has lost the plot. Players are sitting on the bench, seeing players blatantly struggling, and thinking “ffs how am I not on the pitch, they are useless”.

      (Quote)

  27. Pardew needs to sit up in the John Hall stand to see that Cisse is useless and needs to be substituted. Standing down on the touchline he obviously isn’t seeing clearly.

      (Quote)

  28. Is SWP still quick, or has he slowed down in his dotage? Because if he’s still quick, Harry’s looking for that burner ball over the top for him to run on and pull the trapdoor open for us.

Perch & Jonas off, Marv & Obertan on?

      (Quote)

  29. What irritates me is that QPR have absolutely no attacking threat, yet we are not willing to take a chance to win the game at home against one of the worst teams I have seen for ages.
