Does Colo really want to leave Newcastle?

Tyneside days numbered for Colo?
Tyneside days numbered for Colo?
There is no way you haven’t seen the rumours regarding Fabricio Coloccini apparently wanting to leave United.

If you have missed them then where have you been?

There is an awful lot of confusion about this. The general consensus appears to be that the rumour is true, with the Evening Chronicle seeming to verify the reports, but there are other outlets around, such as BBC Newcastle and the agent of Coloccini, who are saying that it isn’t true.

You can make up your own mind but I guess the only way we will find out is by giving it time, which is something we don’t have too much of in a January transfer window. I would guess the teamsheet at Carrow Road tomorrow may give us a clue and if Colo isn’t involved I’d say that is pretty much a confirmation that something isn’t quite right.

Personal reasons and a rumoured split with his wife are being mentioned, but then there is that word again – rumour. Wouldn’t it just be best for the manager or the player or the club to come out and say something to clear it up one way or the other?

Colo leaving us now would be very much like a rat deserting a sinking ship. Happy to sign a lucrative new deal less than 12 months ago when things were going well yet when the going gets tough he seemingly wants to quit.

The problem Colo has is that the club who are rumoured to be after him – San Lorenzo – wouldn’t be able to offer us enough money to make a deal worthwhile from a club perspective and they also wouldn’t be able to offer him anywhere near the salary he currently receives. I want a Ferrari but my finances don’t stretch that far and San Lorenzo are in a similar situation.

Undoubtedly it is bad news which means that it is usually true, but I don’t think it is as clear as the press are making it out to be. For some obscure reason I still think Colo will be a United player come February 1st but that is only a gut feeling and I’ve been hopelessly wrong with those before.

Time will tell I guess…

You don’t think it caused unrest in the dressing room when your top goal scorer and captain want to leave because the club is lacking ambition, doing badly and playing **** football?

Not only are our top players leaving but as things stand there is no sign of any of them being replaced by any quality. What top player will want to come here when the current top players don’t want to stay and we are sinking like a stone towards relegation.

  2. wellington-Players will always get what they want eventually,I hear what your saying mate but to be honest with you the whole club is disturbed at the minute,.Yes the players are expecting us to bring fresh faces in and its hoped that these will be quality, mind you im not convinced Ashley will do this but until the window clangs shut we wont know, his track record is not good in that respect though as he lacks vision and is a tight **** who loves to gamble, not a good combo.to be fair. If Collocini goes do you think he will be replaced with similar or better? I very much doubt it,we will get the players nobody else wants and they are going to have to fit in with Asleys pay structure and if thats 30k a week or whatever players wont sign because they expect more for kicking a ball about these days.

This is taking liberties: Their president, coach and his father all trying to unsettle him despite the fact they havent got anything like the ammount of money to buy him out of his contract. I thought Colo was more switched on than expecting the club in its current state to tear up a four year contract he signed less than a year ago and lose our highest paid and most influential player for nowt.

TBH this was sort of the first thought that crossed my mind. I’m not entirely sure I buy the whole personal crisis thing. the fact that his father works at the club us rather telling IMO

They could pay us 60Million for Colo and take 300k/week of the wage bill.

Ashley and co. still won’t spend much.

  5. JJ- I’m not in the dressing so I have no idea what affects morale. It seems like the biggest sulker is gone now

But I don’t think Ba left because of lack of ambition- he went for money pure and simple. And to be honest, what player wouldn’t leave 90% of the clubs in the world to join the European champions for twice the wage?

      (Quote)

  6. GG63 – He’s on such a big contract that we might get two decent central defenders in. And by decent, I mean about as good at Saylor. (Though preferably one of them would be a more composed, sweeper type, for a better partnership.) That’s not unreasonable, and would improve our defence.

Its got **** all to do with the club why colo wants to leave his wife and kids have gone back home after he got a local lass pregnant and Ba’s agents held talks with Galatasaray and Fenerbache last season when things werent so grim.

  8. Know this is more for the previous thread… but remember these guys.

Tomas Kadar, Ryan Donaldson, Ben Tozer, Aaron Spear, Fabio Zamblera, Nile Ranger, Phil Airey,

The incredible young talents scouted by our tremendous network of scouts finding the top young talent in Europe before the develop into world class athletes.

Pity none of them developed and all of them actually became worse players under our coaching system.

Investing in youth is Ashley’s philosophy. Apart from Krul, who is yet to truely prove himself. Who has actually come off?

None of these lot or the current lot look like they are going to make it… Even after the massive summer overhaul.

another stuff up by Ashley. 😥

  9. lets be honest here and face stark reality.

We are a **** team, **** owner, **** chairman, **** manager, no aspirations, no investment, no pride, no honor, no class or style, no players, no strikers, no defenders and no captain. we are going down without a doubt. the rot is in same as it was when we went down last time. its the same reasons.. every single fuking player is pissed off playing for a two bit club that does not want to do well or challenge. our owner quite simply does not give a **** about anything to do with nufc other than making money. i for one am pleased we are going down, at least ashley will make no money out of us. fuking fat robbing scum.

  10. Wellington-If that was the case I couldn’t agree more, but if Collo goes will he do that? I very much doubt it but thats just my personal opinion..The owner of our club has zero interest in football other than to advertise his core business as much as possible. As far as billionaires go hes a tight fisted ****.Dont come into football if ya dont want to spend money, its the craziest business model on the planet,no investment and you perish, its that simple mate, and Toot and Ploot our fearsome duo are taking us for a ride..bog style

At the end, you’ll find yourself thinking, “Why can’t we always play this way? Didn’t expect Cabaye to come back with a beard, but it suits him….” 😉

  23. Well if it is a personal crisis it may be best he goes as I have worked with people who’s heads are all over the shot when in a personal crisis and they don’t concentrate and are error prone imo. It’s human nature to be angry with him and it is **** awful timing to happen now ,however I don’t see how it can be a footballing issue to go to SL ,it’s hardly Barca is it,so he must be in personal turmoil imo.Only thing is he MUST buy out his contract if he’s to go or it looks suspicious bailing out now when we are in a state like this. Gutted for sure though, we are imploding big time and down for sure unless prompt replacements are made. Come on Mike sort your club out ffs ,amature. 👿

  24. we will never amount to anything other than a disaster club under that fat **** of an owner. it should be illegal the way he treats the club and city. at least he will loose money when we go to the CCC. i will be happy then. there is no point in being in the premier league with this owner.. its just not good for the ticker. he needs to die i think, anything, just be gone.

  25. The whole situation is really depressing , such a fall from grace and up to a point quite predictable given the lack of ambition shown in the summer .Sadly our ambition still doesn’t show any signs of improving as yet, tick tock ,tick tock times running out Mikey. 🙄

  26. So some are supporting Colo because he stuck by us when we were relegated?? he did get a huge pay rise for it in March.

He has family/personal problems and as if by magic his home town want to sign him soon to save their season and he wants out as quick as poss.. a bit of a coincidence don’t u think…

Tell the hippy to shut the f*** up and keep us up, he cant ****** off in May..

  28. Craig – there’s not much point in restating my disagreement. However, as a bit of friendly advice, you might want to rein in the remarks on what ought to happen to Ashley’s person. The law on what you can and can’t say on the internet seems to get tighter every year. 🙁

  29. wheres crafty weasel Llambias at the mo? we havent heard from him for a while apart from when Sir Alex called us a wee club. Dereks response was a bit comical and actually managed to make it worse by bragging about our history..

I think we need some kind of statement from the club instead of them burying their heads..

  34. kimtoon, it is defo true, the club are tossers, this story has been doing the rounds for a few days and what have we had out the club so far.. yesterday they wanted someone to sponser the changing room against reading (thats should be cheap as no players left to sponsor) and tonight they are offering tickets for the euro game… money all the way. thats all that matters

  35. This is a terrible time for the news about Colo to become mainstream. We are entering a vital set of games, Colo is unsettled, Pardew sounds shaky at best talking about poor performances by the younger players and a lot of bollocks going round about us signing 10 new players. A cleanout of young players after a cleanout last season? This is ridiculous. Do we hear about other teams having to do this 2 seasons in a row or even once? We’re talking about a lot of young players here. What is going on with the club? Big Dave you have been saying it all along. Something stinks to high heaven in there.

      (Quote)

  36. G2 both me and dave have been saying for a couple of months something wasnt right in the club but were normally shot down and called neggers, doesnt take much for players to opt out these days,if colo goes just hope its not tomkins that comes in as hes ccc class at best and hes sadly lacking any kind of pace 🙁

      (Quote)

  37. Craig – I don’t have a problem with the way you’re expressing yourself. It’s just advice, take it or leave it. 🙂

  38. The owner and his club fool have spoken about how they are building the club over time to be competitive both in the league and Europe. How is that looking now? Do we look like a hungry club capable of getting back into Europe? Do we look like a steadily improving club? How can we possibly believe any of this with a fool as managing director and a bunch of yes men on the board? Pardew looks completely panic stricken to me now. And what on earth has been happening with the younger players? How about some answers from the club for a change instead of the usual round of bollocks. If you’re going to clean somebody out Ashley start with Llambias.

      (Quote)

  39. Aye icedog both of you have been right all along. Too many have been too willing to say everything is fine within the club. And the bollocks about slow but steady improvement. Surely anyone can see it just isn’t happening at any level for us? There needs to be a huge re-structuring but certainly Ash/Llam aren’t the people to do it.

      (Quote)

  40. G2 i have no faith in jabba and owlheed and to me pardew is falling in with them,i have said along jabba is only in the club to make money he is not in any way bothered about taking the club forward if we fininshed 4th bottom every yr he will be happy to rake the money in,sad but true imo

      (Quote)

  41. Spot on icedog, but I don’t think even now that Ashley realizes that the supporters won’t stand for 17th place finishes. If he thinks we’ll praise him for barely keeping us in the Prem he’s got another think coming. The situation is getting close to another huge supporter protest. The blogs and papers are already full of the unhappiness created by this owner. Things appear very dire to me.

      (Quote)

  42. G2 aye agree mate but jabba hasnt be bothered about what the fans think in the past and still doesnt as long as he can sell his **** gear through the club hes happy and if he can keep us “just”in the PL thats a big bonus for him

      (Quote)

  43. Jabba hasn’t learned his lessons from previous seasons icedog. He’s set himself up for another fall now. Surely Llambias has to go? He is a complete flop. Pardew is also hanging on by a thread. I would think we have to play Colo tomorrow no matter how he feels about it. Thanks to Ashley who else do we have to play CB? We’re so weak all over the pitch now. This is the time for the players to show real courage and run til they drop. It’s the only thing that will raise the supporters. The Toon Army should sing their hearts out tomorrow.

  44. G2 – calm ya self down man before you go bursting a blood vessel or something. 😛
We are nearly half way thru the transfer window. Now is not the time for the vitreol. Keep your powder dry ’til Feb mate.
We have 3 mega important matches before then tho. We dont need anymore insatability at the club that might drip down to the dressing room.
We must be loyal and supportive of the players that take to the park, We really need these 7-9 points, before the **** really hits the fan.
Its too hard to 2nd guess the board and its intentions for the remainder of this month, although we all have our own theories and doubts.
It quite simply beggars belief that the regime still hasn’t got its act together regarding player transfers/contracts and deal negotiations.
But we have to give them more time to pull a rabbit out of the hat, we just dont know exaxtly what stage any negotiations are at.
I wouldn’t believe everything you hear and read in the press/media. Some is good some not so.
I know a few season tkt holders now, who like myself will be thinking long and hard about renewing. Especially if we are seeing no improvement, or worse.
For now tho, I think we should keep the faith, and roll with it a little longer.
Howay the Lads for the morra.

  45. G2 well i think hoots will be right up for this one,he will want to put it right up jabba,we will get nowt ime very sad to say 🙁

  46. I hope you’re right and the club does pull a rabbit out of the hat BB @140. With our luck it’s more likely to be a piranha! Hopefully it would bite Llambias’s head off. I will always support the team. Tomorrow is no different. I’ll have my jersey and scarf on and cheer anything worthwhile from our players. I think the club and city deserve far better than this owner though. I’ll be watching along with everyone else for signs of improvement this month mate, including some decent incoming. 😉

      (Quote)

  47. BB the club is showing nothing to give a great deal of hope imo, they had their chance in the summer, did you fall into the trap of buying a ten yr season ticket 😉

      (Quote)

  48. yeah ice, but I have the option not to renew I think 😕 ❓
Its just fixed for 10 yrs thats all.
I agree about the club showing nothing to give us much hope.
Pardoh’s interiews are becoming ever more embarrassing imo.
He needs to put a sock in it, and just get on with the job in hand.
Unfortunately he is starting to belief his own stench, and he seems to love the limelight. Shame the results tell otherwise. 😳
We are absolutely desperate for a “win at all costs” performance from the Lads tomorrow.

      (Quote)

  49. The last summer transfer window confirmed everything we suspected about the future plans of this regime.
Mid table mediocrity all the way, would do nicely for the fat controller.
No ambition to progress the club, just keep the money rolling in.
Minimal investment in players. A sell to buy policy that is flawed, because the younguns have failed epicly to improve.

      (Quote)

  50. i know its hard to sign players in this window, thats why w/ham have made their forth signing today in this window 🙄

      (Quote)

  51. IMO collo’s being a baby and I think his father’s up to no good. If he tries to walk while still under contact I hope the club fines him everyday he is gone. Be a man and suck it up lad.

      (Quote)

  52. Nah. The club wont try and keep him if he is unhappy. He will leave and the club will sign someone with pace for the premier league on half the wages. I don’t blame Colo though I blame King Rat.

      (Quote)

  53. I guess the fat controller isn’t getting mid-table mediocrity with his methods BB@146. He is hanging on by his fingernails right now. I just can’t imagine he’s comfortable with our current position. He will spend something to save his investment but has he got the plums to make a real impact? I doubt it because it would upset the whole we aren’t willing to pay fairly bollocks he has tried to run with. He has been found out big time and there is nowhere to hide now. Talk of 10 incoming next summer is a typical example. I haven’t really seen any statement from the club which includes the number 10 however. If we do need 10 new players it’s a disgrace and a huge indictment of the club’s policies and procedures.
