Game On! West Ham v Newcastle

Game On at Upton Park
Game On at Upton Park
Newcastle and West Ham face off against each other this afternoon, with the need for points for the away side reaching a critical level.

Currently we’re five points clear of Wigan who are away at West Brom this afternoon. In an ideal world that gap would be extended to eight points with just three games to go (for them anyway) as we win and they lose.

However I get the feeling that things aren’t going to go to plan in much the same way that they’ve not gone to plan all season long. At the moment we can sort of forget about Wigan as our destiny is in our own hands, but for it to stay that way we must win at all costs this afternoon and take the points away from a host of faces who will be desperate to put one over on us.

Sam Allardyce, Andy Carroll and Kevin Nolan are all former employees of Newcastle and will want to make a point, especially Allardyce who has made it a habit of getting one over us wherever he has been. His brand of football may attract criticism but it’s effective, especially against us.

We look devoid of confidence, lacking ideas and low on fight which are ingredients needed to help pull us out of this mess. One win is all it will take I reckon, but until that comes nerves will understandably be frayed. A growing injury list has seen Moussa Sissoko added to the list of walking wounded. Put simply, things are bad right now.

If you need a bit more background ahead of the match then why not take a look at our match preview article which is linked at the bottom of this article? It features all the other injury news, a history of the fixture and some facts and stats to get you thinking.

The game itself is not being shown live here in the UK so streams will be needed. Once again if you happen to find one then please leave a link to it in the ‘comments’ section below. Team news will be made available as soon as I can get my hands on it.

  2. I said it before but i’ll say it again Benny makes us tick and if we had him playing most of this season we wouldn’t be in the trouble we are in

  3. Pardew got a big job on his hands at half time coz you know Sam will be at his players!!
Change nowt for me like just ask alittle more from these 11 players.
WBA improved alot against us in the 2nd half so got to hope for the same from them again.

  4. Decent first half now i am just thinking we are going to come out in the 2nd half and let them do what they want cause Pardew will want the point and we havn’t had a good 90 minutes this season.

  6. Looks over the line for me. Fowler on BBC nailed it though, we shouldn’t even be talking about it, Cisse should have buried it 😕

  7. the team is better equilibrate and most strong defensivly…the midfields cabaye jonas and tiote must play short more passes and safe pass for hba ,gouf or cisse !!! but it s a positive first half….

  8. OK lads and lasses 0-0 and a good first half performance ,i would take a point at full time but their is something in this game for us .

  9. I fear that is the best we are going to get attack wise today. That first half, we needed to nudge a goal ahead there, unfortunately we never managed it, not for lack of trying though.
Allardyce will change the style of play in the second half, and I fear that we will run out of steam.

Come on lads, keep on in there !!!!!

  11. If Cisse had of struck the chance cleanly the defender would never have made it back to clear off the line.

  12. MM ,If Fat Sam changes things at half time ,it’s up to Pards to counter it ,what I don’t want is to hang on for a poxy point again.

  15. Tiote has not tracked back hard enough, a couple of times now, the westham mids have wandered into our box unmarked.. their best chances have come from these runs. Collo has been good, at least he can keep Saylor in line.. Dowd is a feckin muppet..

  16. Good game so far. We were robbed of a goal though. That ball crossed the line. Hope we can have a good second half too, so far this season the best we have done is have one good half and one bad half. Interesting to see if we can keep the good going for the other half. Everybody is playing about as well as they can so far. Need to get the ball to HBA more if possible.

  17. The ball did cross the line but as usual, cisse makes hard work of the 1v1 chances you’d expect a striker to score.

  18. I just hope Dowd will see that we should have had a goal and will try to make up for it.
This game is in our hands we just need to carry on doing what we have been doing

  23. Benny needs to stop trying to take on the world.
For all the criticism Cabaye is the only one that has created a chance.

  24. Our corners actually haven’t been that bad recently, it’s just our players don’t jump for them!

      (Quote)

  25. We need to bring Anita in the right wing and put benny just behind Cisse. He seems to be too tired to track back. Let him concentrate in the goal

  26. Man is Mbwia a beast at times. Whata brilliant run at left back, he beats three men, gives the ball to Tiote who….err….

  27. hba need more confidence…and little space…for ignition !!he not start since december …wait and see…

  28. Take a look at Cabaye’s efforts off the ball.

THE BLOKE IS A FUKING DISGRACE
