Redknapp names price for Loic Remy

Remy's future still no clearer
Remy’s future still no clearer
Newcastle have been told that they may have to stump up £16 million if they wish to make Loic Remy’s deal permanent, or risk losing out on him completely.

Harry Redknapp has now hinted that he is willing to let the former Marseille striker leave Loftus Road on more than just a loan deal but feels that the performances of the 27-year-old since his arrival in the Premier League warrant a fee that is double what QPR paid just over a year ago.

Remy is our top scorer this season despite the flow of goals slowing down in recent weeks. However his his contribution of ten goals in 18 appearances for us this term added to the six goals scored for QPR at the tail end of last season give him a record of 16 goals in 32 league appearances since his move across La Manche – a record of a goal every other game.

“I don’t know what the deal is,” said Redknapp. “You’d think they’d want to snap him up, wouldn’t you? If they don’t, then someone else will.”

“For what we got him for, he’s probably worth double that now. He’s scored goals in the Premier League again this year.”

“Would we want him in the Premier League? That’s all ifs and buts. You’ve got to get there first, and if someone came and offered £15m or £16m for him, I’d sell him if it was my choice. But it’s not, it’s down to the chairman.”

The problem is, as I understood it at the time, there is some form of clause in the deal with Remy where a permanent fee has already been kind of agreed between the two club and representatives of Remy but it’s not quite as cut and dry as paying that fee and signing the player.

Remy still has allegations of rape hanging over him which would have a severe impact if anything ever comes of it. Obviously I know nothing of the detail and that is something for the legal system to sort out, but if you look at it from a business perspective, do you sign a player who could potentially be unavailable for an amount of time?

Redknapp is just trying to spark up some interest in Remy. There may well be other clubs taking a look but all he is trying to do is to get Newcastle to blink first in my opinion.

What do you think?

  1. Toonsy, Floppy chops can pluck as many prices out the air as he likes but we know Jabba won’t be had over where cash is concerned, good luck with that one Arry 😆

  2. Agree Toonsy, he wants the money in quick so he can get some players of his own and secure promotion. We aren’t going to pay 17 million for him, not with the court case still about, not that we would anyway imo. I’m assuming that because of the delays the evidence isn’t stacked against Remy or the case seen as one where he is a danger to others – but it could still end up with him in jail so while that possibility is about we won’t budge.

Wait til after then offer the supposed fee for the start of the summer and basically give his agents a big backhander, that’s our only real chance. Can’t see Remy accepting unless he has a really poor second half.

  3. Harry Redknapp 😆 😆 😆 😆 only Troy comes close to spouting the amount of bullshit that guy comes out with! 😛

  4. Can somebody please explain to me the clause in Remy’s contract at QPR!?! I have read while he is on loan there is an £8m buyout, so how are QPR stating £16m?????

      (Quote)

  5. Harry Redknapp completely contradicts himself, its just a way of getting his face in the papers, enforcing the idea that hes some sort of wheeler dealer. He even states that “If somebody came in and offered sixteen million for him I would sell if it was my choice.’ So obviously it isn’t up to him and the guy knows nothing. If I was Fernandez it wouldn’t let that **** wit have anything to do with player sales, after his performance last year.

  6. Scott – QPR haven’t said it, ‘Arry said it mate – and he’s full of ****!.

However, £14m for Cabella – is £16m for Remy so ridiculous?.
I know I’d sooner get him for £8m mind.

  7. <<<<<<<<<<<<, hoping remy gets convicted meself then floppy chops gets nothing.Never really thought we were ganna sign him on a permant deal anyway

      (Quote)

  8. Sharpy-that is true, the nature of the transfer market. I’d sooner see Remy here than Cabella that’s for sure.

Given QPR’s little stint with Samba surely Fernandes would be willing to sell for 10 mil ish? A little profit and he looks good. Doesn’t seem like he minds pissing money into the wind anyway.

The key is Remy himself though and always has been 😕

  9. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< thinks its time we forgot about the poor unfortnate mr remy 😯 and start looking ahead towards the new goal king of the toonarmy meself 😆

  10. Nah, for that money I would rather gamble that QPR don’t come up and go back for cheaper in the summer.

  18. On 1 July this year , Remy will go back to QPR to play out the remaining three years of his contract on his supposed wage of £4m per year.
If QPR do not get promoted then Remy will be sold or loaned out again.
NUFC took him on a year long loan paying a loan fee of £2m and his contracted salary , making a total outlay of around £6m for this season.
No club will be able to sign Remy , permanently or on loan , on a salary less than what he is already contracted to.
I can not see Mike Ashley paying more than £6m for him when he has to pay that wage of £4m per year.
We can only hope that a decent striker arrives in the Summer transfer window to replace Remy , but there is more chance of Shola getting a further two year contract.
Troy — you heard it here first. 😀

  19. Haven’t QPR got financial fair play problems? Read somewhere that they were something like 40-odd million quid over accepted losses and facing a whopping tax and possible transfer embargo.

    Will check …

And (unfortunately from the Daily Mail) http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2508505/QPR-face-record-fine-losing-80million.html

  20. I wonder if QPR will change there tune if they don’t get promoted this season. Remy still has to be cleared of rape before Newcastle make a 16 million pound bid. I think he would be lucky to get 6 million pounds or even a bid for Remy. I can’t see Newcastle signing anyone till after the world cup unfortunately. If Shola gets another contract and no-one comes in the summer i’ll quit supporting Newcastle till Ashley’s gone, even though it world be difficult to do.

  22. Kim: It does seem that way, doesn’t it?

If these reports are near the mark, then you’d think that Ashley would be aware of it and it would have a bearing on negotiations. Not that I have a clue what goes on in transfer negotiations, but you’d think it’d be relevant – both in our approach and in the public face of QPR’s position.

So, at a guess, I’d say that HR’s assessment is probably an attempt to talk up the price and the chairman’s position is a bit of bluff.

  23. got to love transfer windows, so much bollocks flying around ,it’s well funny watching the press tie themselves in knots.

      (Quote)

  24. Bris, yep ,I’m pretty sure Jabba likes to fight dirty where cash is concerned, he’ll defo use that little gem to his advantage, I would 😉

  25. Did ‘Arry not say in the summer that there was no way Remy would be going out on loan?…’nuff said 🙄 👿

      (Quote)

  26. Arry talks ***** – there is a buyout clause which equals the fee QPR paid for Remy, however it expires at the end of this season and Remy himself is hoping that a champions league club come in for him so will not sign
Fair enough – bye bye Remy

      (Quote)

  27. Grrrr, still no signings 😈 I tell you what! If we didnt have so many points from the games we have won, we would be in relegation trouble! Ashley, Joe and Pardew out! 😛

      (Quote)

  28. City looked immense last night, can’t see our poor run against them being broken this time round, a point would be a great result 😕

      (Quote)

  29. Aussie…Aye but don’t forget so many of those points were not from any footballing ability from our players, blind luck when Timmy makes a save apparently 😉 😛

      (Quote)

  30. Newkie…Aye they did look canny, of course West Ham were atrocious too absolutely shocking effort(!!??) from them like.

      (Quote)

  31. Richie, true mate but don’t get me started on all the luck we have had this season, it makes me even more irate! This season is a luck filled disaster! 🙂

      (Quote)

  32. Richie – true enough hard to measure a team that gets smashed by Forest let alone City, it should have been double figures only their keeper did owt worthwhile.

Aussie-you might take the **** but we statistically have the least shots within the penalty box, I know we might have scored one or two from that distance but Pardew’s negative coaching will make us look really silly at the end of the season in all the statistical league tables, especially as we will have had less possession on average than Southampton ffs!

      (Quote)

  33. I just hope they keep BSA long enough to finish the job off.

As for us we dont really deserve to be were we are as our football has been **** and performance is more important than points

      (Quote)

  34. Newkie, I am lampooning some of the feelings on here but how bad has it really been this season? We are always 2 or 3 losses away from fogetting all the good stuff we have achieved this season.. disaster is embraced much more readily than the good! I find it sad that people find the bad in every situation…

      (Quote)

  35. Richie 😛

Dave-in any case I can’t see them getting anyone good even if they did sack him. Maybe Curbishly will finally be back 🙂

      (Quote)

  36. Aussie-forget one or two losses mate, any sign of a loss or even a draw and the pitchforks are out, it’s a joke really that a few years ago with relegation we seemed to have changed our ways for the better and realised we weren’t in the elite anymore but expectation is back with a bang now, probably all coming from that 5th place finish anything less now failure. And where we are now is acceptable because some website says that is what our squad is worth!

Even this place drowns in negativity lately, I had to stay away during the hols just so it wouldn’t bring me down over christmas and new years, not really sure what’s up 😕

      (Quote)

  37. Newkie…The negativity actually starts with team being named, then if we win people shut up about it then if we lose it’s I told you so 🙄

      (Quote)

  38. Aussie @54 – don’t know how long you’ve been a fan but to the long time fan, disaster is our default mode. 1969 ring any bells?

If you want to give your computer a quick clean and scan for viruses get Advance System Care it is the handiest thing I have ever downloaded. It does all sorts for your computer health and its all free to boot.

I have never had a problem with this site.

£16 million is far to much even though it is a load of ***** from Redknapp. I would much rather spread that around and get 2 or 3 good players.

January seems to bring all the negativity back and all the bullshit starts again and the cycle continues.

I would go with a 4-5-1 on sunday

    Krul (if fit)
    Santon, Willo, Mbwia, Hiadara
    Tiote, Anita, Cabaye (if fit)
    Sissoko,Gouffran
    Remy,

On the contrary, if you go back to my comments most times when I’ve been happy with the lineup we’ve won or we have been winning until Pard’s screws up tactically with his substitutes.

When I’ve been unhappy, most times we’ve played **** and lost. 😛 😉

Don’t be a hater because some people can see it coming before it does.

      (Quote)

  42. Without Cabaye and Colo I can see the Man City game being a 3-1 defeat at best. Anything better I’ll actually give Pardew credit.
