No football!

It looks like we have a couple of weeks to cool our heels as the premier league takes a two week break. I have never been a fan of these international games during the season and if I am to be honest, they are nothing but a pain in the ****. You see, I need my weekly fix of football, it is as simple as that!

A quiet weekend of football
A quiet weekend of football

So as this weekend approaches the realization will start to loom large that I will begrudgingly have to look to make other plans that don’t involve watching football.  I try not to let on to the missus know that there are no games as plans may be made for me without my consent… These are worrying times indeed!

So in the down time between fixtures, we will no doubt be bombarded with media speculation around player movements, the sacking of managers, the odds on new managers to take over and the usual tabloid nonsense that gets printed. Don’t get me wrong, all of this stuff gets printed anyway but with no games to distract us, all the attention towards it tends to be a little more focused!

I could also write about the chances of our players getting injured during these international games but this article is not about them, it’s about us fans and the pain of not being able to watch the lads play on the weekend. As horrid as some of our performances have been this season, I still look forward to the next game because who knows, this could be the game where we come good and get that win we so desperately need. These two weeks can’t pass quick enough as far as I am concerned but living in the southern hemisphere like I do, I will get a little more shuteye time so maybe it is not all bad.

Bring on Leicester !

Talk Sport, is more commonly known as – Talk *****.

Says it all about Collymore’s views.

  2. I see Cabaye is not happy at PSG playing just bit parts in the team and says he is missing England but has made his bed so has to get on with it,what is it they say about the grass being greener 😉

      (Quote)

  3. Aussie – I see you went with the dogging scandal with Collymore rather than the wife beating – yeah, he’s a true role model.

I also see Janmaat has come out saying the players are behind Pardew as well. Never doubted that, but they certainly aren’t performing for him on the pitch – which I reckon Pardew would prefer to be honest.

      (Quote)

  4. Ice – I’m not sure what Cabaye was expecting to be honest – likewise with Ba when he left for Chelsea. I reckon they have too many people round them blowing smoke up their arses.

As for Ashley, in a way I’m pleased he’s stirring things up at Rangers. It proves to the rest of the world that he’s a fucking shitbag and we aren’t a bunch of twisty fans as Dennis Wise suggests. Comments he may on a TV channel in the Far East – which goes to show how much people give a **** about that ex PL players opinion.

  5. Mark – Chucky also scored in that game and Raylor managed 70mins at RB. These fitness games are going to be of benefit to Pardew I reckon – if he’s got the bottle to drop senior players who aren’t performing.

I still fancy Chucky to contribute goals this season like. Armstrong is proving himself every game and young Callum Roberts is coming on well too. Abied and Bigi played in that game with Streete and Satka at CB. Options are definately there for Pardew IMO.

  6. Sharpy…It was the Middle East 😉 , KK and Shearer are also regular pundits so a bit harsh to suggest that where he’s appearing is an indication of the interest in his opinion. They are bigger than Sky in terms of viewers I’d have thought and they’re already in North America and I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ll be challenging Sky in the next few years…Just a pity they have Keys and Gray 👿

    You’re a right hypocrite! 😈

Just cos you’re bang into Rooing in Oz, it doesn’t make it any better than dogging! 😛

      (Quote)

  8. Richie – perhaps an unpopular statement to make on this site, but I actually don’t rate KK or Shearer much as Pundits either . Superb manager and CF respectively, but they aren’t captivating pundits for me like.
It may well be a large TV channel out their, but football in the Middle East and North America?!
I appreciate they may have the financial clout, but the fact that Keys and Gray are over there says it all for me.

  9. Heard a piece about the new Indian league that’s about to kick off. The first game is a 100,000 sell out. They also interviewed their youngest playing superstar from England – Michael Chopra 😀

      (Quote)

  10. Sharpy – did you see that vid of Callum Roberts scoring for the reserves. One Benny would have been proud of. AP should play young Arma now he’s got nothing to lose and he looked great with 2 assists against Palace. Streete or Satka must be worth a try. They cannot be an worse than Willo. Impossible.

      (Quote)

  11. Georgio I agree with you regarding Armstrong. The kid has the talent and the confidence at the moment. Forget the kids age, he should be in.
On current form, I’d go 4-4-2 with Sammy and Oba on the wings, with Armas and Cisse up front.

Satka at CB is such a composed and confident young player. But Pards keeps putting him at RB and he’s clearly out his comfort zone there.

      (Quote)

  12. Sharpy…My point was that they can and do attract big names to do their punditry probably more of them and more than Sky do, whereas your point seemed to be that the only people they can attract as pundits are the ones that the UK don’t want, unless you can tell me I’ve misunderstood?
Fans in England are a minority when it comes to talking about numbers that follow the Premier League 😉

      (Quote)

  13. Richie – that’s my point exactly mate. Other than Shearer (who they probably pay a small fortune), which other channel is fighting for KK, Dennis Wise or Keys & Gray?.
MOTD have just had a shuffle round of pundits and I can’t imagine Wise or KK being a must have – mind you, I they did get Robbie Savage 😆

      (Quote)

  14. Sharpy Your point (or implication) in your original post seemed to be more about where the channel is broadcast that Wise was on and using that geography of that to belittle the comments rather than just the fact he’s a bellend wherever he might have said them. As for Bein they do get a lot more internationally known pundits than Sky do and in the main they are better ones(obviously some **** ones) and the match coverage is better and alot more comprehensive. I assume BeIn can’t afford the top quality pundits Sky get like Merson, Thommo, Le Tiss and Charlie Nicholas but I reckon I can live without them but that’s because all the international channels will be fighting over those top quality pundits 😉 😆 As for Keys and Gray if they hadn’t blown it with their remarks I don’t doubt they’d still be the mainstay of Sky’s coverage…wish they were then maybe BeIn would have The Kinnear and Wise Show 😆

      (Quote)

  15. MDS…He’s a good player, watched quite a bit of him in France, hopefully he can get to grips with the league and we’ll see the best of him.

      (Quote)

  16. MDS – it’s a real shame that De Jong and Aaron’s got injured when they did (and for so long) coz I think Cabella would have found his feet quicker in a 4-2-3-1 formation with those behind a CF.
It’s a shame we didn’t have Marv and Benny there as well, coz those and Cabella would also make up a decent attacking 3.

      (Quote)

  17. Sharpy…The problem with that is the word “attacking” and then you bring Pard’s into the equation 😉

Speaking of Pard’s when has/does he keep playing Satka at rb?

      (Quote)

  18. Richie – wow you’re looking right into that post aren’t ya?! 😆
My point was simply how well do the wider audience either know Dennis Wise or Mike Ashley or Newcastle for that matter. It was geographical in the sense of I’d bet alot of viewers in the Middle East or North America aren’t tuning in to listen to Dennis Wise or because they are toon fans – so they probably aren’t gonna give a **** what the bellend has to say about a club they don’t really give a **** about.

      (Quote)

  19. Richie – yeah I know, that would be why he let Marv and Benny go out on loan.
He played Satka RB in every pre season friendly he played in – he replaced MYM at RB – need I say more 😆

      (Quote)

  20. Oh reet, didn’t he replace Saylor in one?…though he may have moved our proper rb(Yanga) into the centre so Satka could play at rb..genius 😆

  22. KIM I would believe anything thing of jabba,I remember back in the days of the KK court carry-on,when asked by some one at a dinner “do” which he lost, what do you want to happen at SJP now he said he would like to flatten it and turn it into a car park, later he said it was a joke, the lucky thing is jabba does not own the ground SJP stands on its the council own it,thank god for that, otherwise he could do what he wants, the mans a nightmare

      (Quote)

  23. KIM aye the club pays rent to council, mind the land outside the gallowgate end does belong to the club its where st James hall stood once upon–a time it was a boxing/wrestling hall,so maybe that’s where he getting mixed up

      (Quote)

  24. Weren’t we trying to move away from SJP under FFS as well though?. I seem to remember talk of a move to the Town Moor. I can’t remember the full craic like but I’m certain one of the sticking points was it was the land the Hoppings used to use every year and the heritage of that put the block on – I think.
The Hoppings now go to Penshaw park so maybe the ways been cleared to go for that land again.

I hope I’m wrong coz SJP will always be the home of NUFC, but it may be the council trying to force us off that land as well with it being city central and worth a small fortune.

Ice…Shame I was gonna buy you a pint on Wednesday when I’m over 😛

Sharpy…You’re right about not remembering the full craic, It was actually Leazes Park…and keep up man the Hoppings is in Newcastle, it was only in the land of the unwashed for 1 year and was back in Toon this year…can’t believe ya didn’t take the bairn, consider yourself reported to Social Services 😆

Surely everyone is releasing than comment Chronicle will just be a mackem on a wind up? 🙄

    SJH wanted to move SJP.
He proposed several sites but his main aim was to move it a few hundred metres onto Nuns Moor. It was the local residents who objected and won their legal battle to prevent it.

It had nothing to do with the Hoppings. That’s on a totally different part of the Moor. That’s the Town Moor and not Nuns Moor.

It would have been ideal on the proposed site. Still in easy access of the city centre and a state of the art stadium.

    Shame like.

      (Quote)

  28. Richie – aye I knew it was something like that mate. What was the block on that move again then?.
The Hoppings was at Penshaw Park this year but it must have just been the small one before they meet at the Town Moor.

      (Quote)

  29. Troy – thanks for that, I knew moor featured in there somewhere 😆
Didn’t realise it was as far back as SJH either.

Seems to be the ‘in’ thing for clubs to look to move at the moment though – WHU, Spurs and Everton all looking to move.

      (Quote)

  30. Sharpy…Once again man, keep up 😆
It was in scumsville last year, this year it was in Newcastle
    http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/hoppings-2014-funfair-huge-success-7340978

The block on the stadium was due to local opposition, one of the stories going around at the time was that they were collecting petition signatures in red and white areas who were more than willing to put one their thumbprint on…dunno how true though.

      (Quote)

  31. Richie – I know the main one was but they do a mini tour of the North East before getting together on the Town Moor. The mini one was defo in Penshaw Park mate – I saw the ****** with my own eyes 😯

      (Quote)

  32. As Ice said he can’t do it, it’s not his land!!!!
No Newcastle Council is going to kill off Newcastle United.
An apart from owt else once a plan is submitted it is made public via a notice on the property and/or an advert in the local press.

      (Quote)

  33. Sharpy…Nae wonder Troy gets exasperated 😉 😆 there is only one “Hoppings” which is what you originally posted about “The Hoppings now go to Penshaw park”, it is held on the Town Moor apart from last year where they held a version of it at Herrington.

      (Quote)

  34. Richietoon
Agree with you that Sir John Hall wanted to build a new football stadium in Leazes Park.
SJP was to remain as the new home for The Falcons and there was to be a walkway between the 2 .

      (Quote)

  35. Once again Richie is right the move was blocked by locals they were also backed by the freemen of the city who own rights on the town moor,I mean where are they going to graze their sheep with fans running aboot lol, also agree with SIDEKICK there was a plan to join SJP/rugby to new ground

      (Quote)

  36. RICHIE “you buy”a pint more chance of jabba spending 100mil on one player, next time your over will go for a drink even though it will cost me 4 to 1 as I know you cannot count well

      (Quote)

  37. Ice…a tad optimistic with the 4-1 me thinks 😉

Dave…All ya can eat in Stowell St, cheap as chips 😛

  38. Richie

You’re correct in believing it was originally Leazes Park. That was the very first proposal. Other suggestions included a site I. The East Wnd, Gateshead and Nuns Moor. None of which were agreed as viable due to public concerns and objections and the lengthy legal wrangles involved.

Plus the Hoppings or was it Billy Smarts circus that blocked it. Best ask Sharpy to clarify that one. 😀

      (Quote)

  39. Was that a subsidiary of the Hoppings or the full Bifta? This needs clarifying. Richie needs to know before he jumps off the cliff. :-

      (Quote)

  40. Troy 😆 No cliff jumping from me, the only real “Hoppings” is in Newcastle, the only events in the sunderland area have been for mackems and their sympathisers…just like the airshow 😉

I hear The Tyneside Summer Exhibition is back and will take place on Teeside 😛

      (Quote)

  41. Maybe the team should just play on the Town Moor now. I’m sure it won’t disturb the cows. Then Ashley can use SJP for Sports Direct fashion shows. The football’s been so poor that fans might not notice. 😛

Drop Gouffran(not even on bench, sell him in january),drop Sissoko, drop Riviere(not good enough) if Raylor is fully fit, he has to play. Keep Arma and Ayoze as subs

  43. Heard a brilliant interview with the american owner of Roma, Palotta. His passion for the club was amazing – the model they’re following, the connection with the fans and the city and the way they care for everybody at the club. Amazing. He also reckoned you don’t have to spend PSG/City money like Dortmund or Atletico.
I’d saw one of my legs off to have an owner like that!

      (Quote)

  44. Do to think it would happen with Roma and Arsenal sniffing about but I’d take Cabaye back in heartbeat

      (Quote)

  45. Georgio- agree on the Roma owners. Smartest thing they did was hire Rudi Garcia. I really rate that guy
