Game on! Newcastle United V’s West Brom

A warm welcome to West Bromwich Albion
A warm welcome to West Bromwich Albion
Welcome one and all to this ‘Game On’ article which will take us through the highs and lows ( Of what JC has billed as the most important game in 6yrs ) as we play host to WBA in this afternoons Premier league game (3pm kick-off), We go into the fixture on the back of a 3-0 defeat at Leicester City, which saw us finish with just nine men following red cards to Mike Williamson and Daryl Janmaat. That was the eighth successive top flight defeat for us.
When the sides met earlier in the season, we came away with a 2-0 victory from the Hawthorns.
Ayoze Perez’s brilliant flick on the stroke of half-time broke the deadlock before a Fabricio Coloccini header sealed all three points for the United.
Speaking ahead of the game John Carver said “West Brom are a very organised side under Tony (Pulis) and they are a huge threat from set plays,” said Carver.
“Manchester United found it very difficult to break them down but we are the home team and we need to win the game.
“It’s going to be very tight. I can’t see there being too many goals looking at our record and at theirs, but we are determined to find a way to win on Saturday.
“We have had a bad run of games but I’ve seen enough from the lads that they want to be productive and they want to do something about it.”
Despite the other teams at the foot of the table picking up points from their recent fixtures, Carver insists he remains focused on Newcastle’s games and no-one else’s.
“I’m not worried about anyone else’s results. We are in the position where we can affect what happens,” he continued.
“It’s in our hands – we are not one of the teams in the bottom three. We can’t afford to worry about what everyone else is doing.
“I don’t think about what the teams are doing below us because I can’t affect that in any way.
“I’m going to focus all my effort and all my concentration on what I can do at this football club, and the earlier we can get results the better – starting with this weekend.”

  2. Big Dave I going with West Brom today mate. Defending is of paramount today. Keeping a clean sheet will be important today. We go a goal or two behind then we will lose.

  3. BB: you not agreeing with me about your mate Troy? I will lay off. He is too easy to ridicule.

A kind of oddity type of character. I love his rants. 😆

  7. Defeat today I’m afraid. I can’t see why things will be different to the last 8 games. It’s not like we’ve been unlucky or played well.

Hope I’m wrong but there’s nothing to indicate a win.

  8. Everton have won their last two home games the last one beating Manure 3.0 but lost v Villa 3.2 last weekend away. Praying their home form continues today.

  11. the makkems wangling out points by hook or by crook. That’s what the Advocaats and the Pullis’s bring to the table. avoiding defeat can be a victory in itself. Fear a 1-3 drubbing today…

If Mark Lawrenson and John Carver reckon John Carver is an excellent coach then that’s good enough for me….

  12. Not really Troysta @8. No rant. Just a questioning of your sanity. Your repetition of the same thing to everybody else on here makes no sense. You defend Carver and then do an about face. What is that about?

Oh well, your words speak volumes. If you can really question anything I say about you then just do it? No pathetic little name calling or invoking Bobby Robson like your idol Carver does. Carver of this blog? Ha!!! From the Pardew of this blog 🙂

  13. clu”EVERTON 0-0 SUNDERLAND: The ball is behind for an Everton corner, but there is no time to take it. So far, so good for Sunderland, who have been second best for the most part but are working incredibly hard to keep Everton at bay. The frequent sight of Defoe and Wickham filling in at right-back and left-back rather defining that half of football.”…….

That’s what happens when a team all pull in the same direction….

      (Quote)

  14. MM: Sunderland have had 27% possession. Hopefully it is just a matter of time. I am watching it, if Carver had watched them before we played them we may have had different result and wouldn’t be in this mess? BUT THE OTHER RESULTS AND TEAMS DON’T MATTER, do they UGLY JOHN?

      (Quote)

  15. Eric Sykes@20, if possession equalled points we’d be down already mate 🙂

Hope you had a canny time in god’s country 🙂

  16. Psychs

I’ll be Pards of the Blog and you be Carver of the Blog. 😉

    Gladly. 😛

  17. Sunderland are getting battered here but Everton just can’t score. They’ll end up winning this!

      (Quote)

  18. Kim

Apparently Colo is being quoted again stating the teams attitude wasn’t right against Leicester and it needs to change.

Is this bloke for real? He’s the captain and the highest paid player and he’s telling the fans the players attitudes weren’t right.

Did he learn anything from relegation? What an absolute insult to the fans!

With leaders like him we have no chance.

    They make me fizz.

      (Quote)

  19. Eric – you use the term ‘hate’ towards carver and pardew quite a bit.
I don’t think there is any need if I’m honest.
I don’t hate either, despite what Tory Boy likes to say.
Carvers heart is in the right place, and in all honesty its just pity I feel for him. If I thought Percy was undeserving of a job in the EPL, I would be a total hypocrite to think anything other of Carver.
He is so far out of his depth, he should have drowned completely by now. Unfortunately he is being kept afloat by the over inflated one and his mini -me.
All the guff he comes out with is cringeworthy 99% of the time, and would almost be funny under better circumstances.

    ffs scum have scored

      (Quote)

  20. Fucking lucky Mackems. Oh well, now Carver has to take FUCKING NOTICE OF WHAT OTHER TEAMS DO !!!!!!!!!!!!!

      (Quote)

  21. Psychs

    Howay. 😉
You rant like Carver and make no sense. You fit the bill perfectly. I bet you’re ugly too? 😛

      (Quote)

  22. BB: I don’t “hate” either of them – Pards or Carvs. Just using the term for affect.

      (Quote)

  23. Betsy

It beggars belief how anyone can hate Carver actually. He’s a Geordie lad doing his best under **** conditions.

He talks rubbish, undermines the fans common sense and indirectly supports the regime.

But it’s not much different to the fans tipping up at the ground. That’s supporting the regime as well.

Psychs is irrational. I’m sure you’ve noticed. 😉

      (Quote)

  24. Oh, Tortston Jr. the 3rd? You trying to make friends with BB now? Whatever next, AMF and Brisvegas? Hypocrite…

      (Quote)

  25. Tory Boy – you do spout some utter garbage, but your not even in the same league as Percy. He really is the king of BS. You’re not fit to lace his shoes.
I would say you are more like the the Colo of the blog with your patronising comments.

      (Quote)

  26. Troysta: You brag about your silly grandpa’s non-comments and baba ganoushe’s crystral ball as well as your facebook page and jumping out of washing baskets. No need to stalk you, you make a pathetic display of yourself for all to see.

      (Quote)

  27. I hope we not gonna have another perfect storm again today. Last week was bad enough.

  28. Troysta says:

What the **** are you on about now? You are saying he is ***** and yet criticised me earlier for saying he is *****?

      (Quote)

  29. Stu it looks like 4 3 3 but the names have maybe not been put in in order so probably 442

MM have a bit of faith mate I think if we can get in at halftime all square we could have a go at them in 2nd half with Cisse and Aarons

      (Quote)

  30. So Cabella is back in. Drops him. Puts him back in, drops him again, puts him back in again. Make your fucking mind up Ugly John. It is almost like the way Pards tried to sell Obertan and then said he was andintegral part of the team. Yes, right, I don’t like Pards or Carvs or hadn’t anybody realise that?

    ******’ Mackems.

      (Quote)

  31. Watching Everton v Sunderland and to be honest, 2 ***** teams. The EPL really is minging…

      (Quote)

  32. That was a stoner penalty for Everton and the ref blew it. Talk about luck…! Could and should have also been a red card for Defoe

Will be interesting to see who takes our first penalty of the season today ? Talk about pressure !

      (Quote)

  33. One more time to show what a hypocrite Troy really is. He said about Carver:

“He talks rubbish, undermines the fans common sense and indirectly supports the regime.”

And then has the audacity to say I am talking rubbish. FTMs, Now Carver show us what you are worth or have a pint after the game with your good mate Troy. 2-0.

      (Quote)

  34. Doesn’t matter what the other teams’ results are though does it Ugly John?

      (Quote)

  35. The most predictable of results. Say what you like about Sunderland but they are together and their owner makes decisions based on them being as good as they can be.

      (Quote)

  36. At least we’ve got Raylor and Riviere. You don’t know what you’re doing JC.

      (Quote)

  37. Now after this result it is in the Mackems’ own hands. Doesn’t matter what other teams do though does it Ugly John?

      (Quote)

  38. The honest thing about the league is that it doesn’t lie. Teams are at the bottom because they are the worst in the league after a massive 38 attempts to get it right.

    End of story.

Sunderland just invited Everton on, come on, give us your best punch. …and Everton couldn’t deliver. Easy really…

      (Quote)

  39. Scum have got some amazing blocks in today when under constant pressure and had two amazing slices of luck too, wouldn’t you know it. They will stay up again thanks to the 6 points we gifted them again.

      (Quote)

  40. Ask any Sunderland supporter today if they prefer **** and they will probably all say yes…

      (Quote)

  41. Not only are we going down, we are saving Sunderland in the process. Unbelievable. Time for Carved to show his worth..

      (Quote)

  42. Sunderland at Everton…”shutting up shop” at it’s finest. Just goes to show what an experienced trainer can achieve in 6 games. Must say that Everton’s low tempo ball retention style played into there hands though.
    A naive Everton performance…

Watch and learn John Carver. His ego got the better of him again… maybe he needs to wind his neck in ?

      (Quote)

  43. Sunderlands owner makes decisions based on the benefit of the club not the balance sheet. Paying dividends
