Game on! Newcastle United V’s West Brom

A warm welcome to West Bromwich Albion
A warm welcome to West Bromwich Albion
Welcome one and all to this ‘Game On’ article which will take us through the highs and lows ( Of what JC has billed as the most important game in 6yrs ) as we play host to WBA in this afternoons Premier league game (3pm kick-off), We go into the fixture on the back of a 3-0 defeat at Leicester City, which saw us finish with just nine men following red cards to Mike Williamson and Daryl Janmaat. That was the eighth successive top flight defeat for us.
When the sides met earlier in the season, we came away with a 2-0 victory from the Hawthorns.
Ayoze Perez’s brilliant flick on the stroke of half-time broke the deadlock before a Fabricio Coloccini header sealed all three points for the United.
Speaking ahead of the game John Carver said “West Brom are a very organised side under Tony (Pulis) and they are a huge threat from set plays,” said Carver.
“Manchester United found it very difficult to break them down but we are the home team and we need to win the game.
“It’s going to be very tight. I can’t see there being too many goals looking at our record and at theirs, but we are determined to find a way to win on Saturday.
“We have had a bad run of games but I’ve seen enough from the lads that they want to be productive and they want to do something about it.”
Despite the other teams at the foot of the table picking up points from their recent fixtures, Carver insists he remains focused on Newcastle’s games and no-one else’s.
“I’m not worried about anyone else’s results. We are in the position where we can affect what happens,” he continued.
“It’s in our hands – we are not one of the teams in the bottom three. We can’t afford to worry about what everyone else is doing.
“I don’t think about what the teams are doing below us because I can’t affect that in any way.
“I’m going to focus all my effort and all my concentration on what I can do at this football club, and the earlier we can get results the better – starting with this weekend.”

  1. Kimtoon, they had 2 penalties against Southamton as well. Wouldn’t you just know it? That’s why you don’t trust a useless pickled walnut with hair.

  2. The fate of destiny still within Newcastle own hands judging by the looks of it.

Burnely will confirmed relegation if they can’t beat Hull later….

Looks like Sunderland will escape relegation thanks to Newcastle 6points given to them. 😳 😳

  3. and i will say it again. We should be watching other teams results because the Mackems just won 2 in a row and have gone above us. Carver is an idiot and so is Troy.

  4. Never in my life have I felt so depressed about the Toon. Why is Abied on the bench instead of on the pitch? Why is Gouffran anywhere near the team? Why is Rivière getting game after game? ***…. Just hope hull and Leicester lose.

  5. Eric I really don’t see big deal in him saying about not worrying about other teams, I take it that he means that our fate is in our hands, if we win our games there is nowt anyother team can do ❓

  6. No pressure then Big D. Carver only says we have 3 cup finals and and this is our biggest game since we got relegated against Villa. No Pressure. Not another 2 games after this? No pressure on the players at all? After the Mackem result that dind’t matter to Carver, no pressure?
