Game On! Tottenham v Newcastle

Game On at the Lane
Game On at the Lane
Good afternoon campers. Are we ready for another emotional journey following our beloved NUFC?

Probably not. The win last week was excellent. Not expected yet hugely welcome we now have to do it all over again this time against an in form Tottenham Hotspur which leaves me with the same feeling I had prior to the match last weekend. Hopefully the outcome is the same but I just can’t see it.

So where do we stand in the table? Well picking up at least a point is essential yet unlikely, especially after Bournemouth picked up three points against Manchester United yesterday, but it won’t be enough to climb out of the bottom three. An unlikely win by the odd goal would see us climb to 15th temporarily while an even more unlikely victory with a four goal margin would see us jump to 14th. Yeah…. I thought that too so I’ll pass the drugs around. All the same you can check what the bookmakers say and enhance your odds using this promotion.

A premature outline of the early team news and injury updates can be found in the match preview which went up last night. It also features a look at the history of the fixture, some stats and facts ahead of the game and some random thoughts from myself dotted throughout.

For actual team news you can consult the bottom of the article. I will try to get it published as soon as it becomes available but I’ve been to work all morning so you may have to bear with while I start cooking the roast and so on. If you really can’t wait have a look in the ‘comments’ section below and I’m sure one of our regulars will have it up in seconds.

Likewise if it is a stream you are looking for you are best served turning towards our regulars who will often post links throughout the comments section which is especially useful for those who aren’t at the game or don’t have Sky Sports or who aren’t in a pub watching the match.

Other than all of that there isn’t really much to add apart from a bit of wishful thinking and blind faith. Well sort of faith anyway. As much faith as you can have in a team that has won like five games in a year.

Howay the lads!

  2. Als expected its same line up ,they say never change a winning team but i would of liked Perez up front instead of cisse

  3. Bound to be a loss as we can’t get a run going for love nor money. Kane is bound to score . hope I’m wrong tho. HWTL

  4. Tony Pulis had a good way of dealing with Spurs’ pressing game. When they pressed their full back they just passed the ball right across he pitch to the other side and it took 2/3/4 Spurs players out of the game in an instant. Wonder if we will adopt something similar?

  5. Cisse Offside has the unbelievable talent of always being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Why we persevere with him I don’t know

  6. No fucking urgency whatsoever! Sissoko drifting inside and leaving Janmaat exposed as per usual! No width and that’s because we have two centre halves out wide.

  7. aye a very long time .. Thought I’d have a dodge back good to see a few names I recognize how’s the laddie

  8. Ice pup 🙂

Not a great start if we’re being honest but Liverpool was like this. Contain first then see. Given that if we go a goal down we’re out it might not be a bad idea.

But we need to get the loose balls.

  9. See the difference there? Spurs pressing us and we panicked and passed it back and we kicked it out. We just let their defenders **** about with as long as they want.

  10. I’m still waiting to show evidence that we actually train during the week. We still have no particular ‘style’ and we just seem to get the ball and give it away. It’s like watching England.

At least it’s still nil nil though so something to build on at least.

  11. Cisse is just not good enough. His control is shot, his passing is **** and he just slows everything down!

  12. Hi folks, well it’s 0 – 0 and we are playing ***** again, anyone seen us put 3 passes together. My ex favourite player (Sissoko) is making the numbers up again, get stuck in you bloody giant ponse

  13. It really, really pisses me off!!!! When they get the ball hey have time and space, when we get it, they’re all over us like a rash! It’s only moving ffs!! Why can’t we do it?

  14. Great play from Gini and a good cross but Cisse was never going to score from there. Why not just okay it down to DJ.

  15. Top save n didn’t make a big deal of it….. Not sure if it’s me but Anita is never a premiership player

  16. McLaren is writing loads down, just right down Steve – “We are *****, must do something about it”

  17. I said the same thing even after we beat Liverpool last week…our passing and movement just doesn’t look good enough! Simple as that really. Look at the way Spurs are passing the ball around crisply and moving into space. Our play looks bitty and like we’re relying on a moment of brilliance or a lucky break.

I was about to say that Elliott was keeping us in it…bloody unlucky there!

  18. See what they are made of now then , we usually fall apart once we concede, lets see if attitudes have improved

      (Quote)

  19. Press, press, press! That’s all they have to do to make us give the ball away. What do we do? We let them have it as long as they want!

**** poor coaching in afraid. Just **** poor.

      (Quote)

  20. Cisse contributed **** all last week so why does he still play? He’s useless and especially away from home when we need it held up.

Dear God – were as poor as Villa and Sunderland

  21. The players are clearly trying, but where are the triangles? We won last week because Liverpool were below par and we tried hard, simple as that. But where are the basic skills?

      (Quote)

  22. Just get him out of here! We have no style of play, we don’t know what we’re doing, we don’t press, we don’t pass and where is the game plan?

    Pathetic isn’t even covering it.

Be a hell of a turnaround now to stop it being 3 imo
