Probably not. The win last week was excellent. Not expected yet hugely welcome we now have to do it all over again this time against an in form Tottenham Hotspur which leaves me with the same feeling I had prior to the match last weekend. Hopefully the outcome is the same but I just can’t see it.
So where do we stand in the table? Well picking up at least a point is essential yet unlikely, especially after Bournemouth picked up three points against Manchester United yesterday, but it won’t be enough to climb out of the bottom three. An unlikely win by the odd goal would see us climb to 15th temporarily while an even more unlikely victory with a four goal margin would see us jump to 14th. Yeah…. I thought that too so I’ll pass the drugs around. All the same you can check what the bookmakers say and enhance your odds using this promotion.
A premature outline of the early team news and injury updates can be found in the match preview which went up last night. It also features a look at the history of the fixture, some stats and facts ahead of the game and some random thoughts from myself dotted throughout.
For actual team news you can consult the bottom of the article. I will try to get it published as soon as it becomes available but I’ve been to work all morning so you may have to bear with while I start cooking the roast and so on. If you really can’t wait have a look in the ‘comments’ section below and I’m sure one of our regulars will have it up in seconds.
Likewise if it is a stream you are looking for you are best served turning towards our regulars who will often post links throughout the comments section which is especially useful for those who aren’t at the game or don’t have Sky Sports or who aren’t in a pub watching the match.
Other than all of that there isn’t really much to add apart from a bit of wishful thinking and blind faith. Well sort of faith anyway. As much faith as you can have in a team that has won like five games in a year.
Howay the lads!

georgio(Quote)
2 Own goals, 1 red card for Harry Kane.
AngelOfDeath(Quote)
Kane hatrick for me. More misery for the toon fan’s
Stem(Quote)
Als expected its same line up ,they say never change a winning team but i would of liked Perez up front instead of cisse
Axel(Quote)
Me too Axel
georgio(Quote)
Bound to be a loss as we can’t get a run going for love nor money. Kane is bound to score . hope I’m wrong tho. HWTL
kimtoon(Quote)
Tony Pulis had a good way of dealing with Spurs’ pressing game. When they pressed their full back they just passed the ball right across he pitch to the other side and it took 2/3/4 Spurs players out of the game in an instant. Wonder if we will adopt something similar?
Stuart79(Quote)
Jesus, what happened to our pressing and closing down? How much room and time did Kane have then…?
Stuart79(Quote)
**** me man! That was going in!
Stuart79(Quote)
****
kimtoon(Quote)
Cisse Offside has the unbelievable talent of always being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Why we persevere with him I don’t know
Toby Le Rhone(Quote)
Going to be a hard bloody game
Ice pup(Quote)
Not impressed with this to be honest. Ten men behind the ball. No outlet and certainly no pressing
Stuart79(Quote)
Hello Pup, long time no post
kimtoon(Quote)
No fucking urgency whatsoever! Sissoko drifting inside and leaving Janmaat exposed as per usual! No width and that’s because we have two centre halves out wide.
Stuart79(Quote)
aye a very long time .. Thought I’d have a dodge back good to see a few names I recognize how’s the laddie
Ice pup(Quote)
Pup, Lew is fine thanks. How’s your little un, must be getting big now.
kimtoon(Quote)
Stuart cisse can’t hold his hand up never mind a ball so it’s gonna be a long day
Ice pup(Quote)
Ice pup 🙂
Not a great start if we’re being honest but Liverpool was like this. Contain first then see. Given that if we go a goal down we’re out it might not be a bad idea.
But we need to get the loose balls.
toonsy(Quote)
Aye Kim n a new un in March as well ..pleased he’s doing well Hun ?
Ice pup(Quote)
Well I thought we’d of shipped a couple by now so it’s a bonus if we reach half time level.
kimtoon(Quote)
Aye aye toonsy lad ???
Ice pup(Quote)
Pup, you don’t hang about do you 😆
kimtoon(Quote)
See the difference there? Spurs pressing us and we panicked and passed it back and we kicked it out. We just let their defenders **** about with as long as they want.
Stuart79(Quote)
Lol conceived the wedding night so at least for once in my life I was on time and I did sumit right ?
Ice pup(Quote)
True stu
Ice pup(Quote)
I’m still waiting to show evidence that we actually train during the week. We still have no particular ‘style’ and we just seem to get the ball and give it away. It’s like watching England.
At least it’s still nil nil though so something to build on at least.
Stuart79(Quote)
Pup 😆
gonna be some stoppage time
kimtoon(Quote)
Cisse is just not good enough. His control is shot, his passing is **** and he just slows everything down!
Stuart79(Quote)
And he makes simple passes look like like technical achievements
toonsy(Quote)
Cisse is ham shank and I’m sure the adults can work the rhymin slang out ?
Ice pup(Quote)
Sissoko’s passing has been awful so far, giving the ball away so much
kimtoon(Quote)
Hi folks, well it’s 0 – 0 and we are playing ***** again, anyone seen us put 3 passes together. My ex favourite player (Sissoko) is making the numbers up again, get stuck in you bloody giant ponse
ash1001(Quote)
It really, really pisses me off!!!! When they get the ball hey have time and space, when we get it, they’re all over us like a rash! It’s only moving ffs!! Why can’t we do it?
Stuart79(Quote)
What do they do in training 😕
kimtoon(Quote)
Ash@36, He is one lazy ******
kimtoon(Quote)
Well we have hung on longer than that mma fella did
Ice pup(Quote)
Mitro would of buried that I reckon
kimtoon(Quote)
Janmaat give him such a bollocking before Kim, but it’s made no difference
ash1001(Quote)
Great play from Gini and a good cross but Cisse was never going to score from there. Why not just okay it down to DJ.
Stuart79(Quote)
Bloody hell Janmaat wtf was that 🙄
kimtoon(Quote)
Great save Elliot, have to say the more I see him the more I think he’s better than Krul.
kimtoon(Quote)
Good save.
Stuart79(Quote)
Ash@42, I just think he’s a fairweather player, can’t be arsed half the time.
kimtoon(Quote)
Top save n didn’t make a big deal of it….. Not sure if it’s me but Anita is never a premiership player
Ice pup(Quote)
McLaren is writing loads down, just right down Steve – “We are *****, must do something about it”
ash1001(Quote)
Elliot another fine save
kimtoon(Quote)
Haha
Ice pup(Quote)
bollocks
kimtoon(Quote)
There ya go. Always coming. Could be anything now.
Stuart79(Quote)
Duck duck duck
Ice pup(Quote)
Who’s marking him? Do we do anything on the training pitch?
Stuart79(Quote)
I said the same thing even after we beat Liverpool last week…our passing and movement just doesn’t look good enough! Simple as that really. Look at the way Spurs are passing the ball around crisply and moving into space. Our play looks bitty and like we’re relying on a moment of brilliance or a lucky break.
I was about to say that Elliott was keeping us in it…bloody unlucky there!
ToonDarnSarf(Quote)
Mitro on please steve
kimtoon(Quote)
M of M ROB ELLIOT but that was coming
ash1001(Quote)
Jesus Christ, Colo! He ran the other way when his man moved!
Stuart79(Quote)
See what they are made of now then , we usually fall apart once we concede, lets see if attitudes have improved
kimtoon(Quote)
Press, press, press! That’s all they have to do to make us give the ball away. What do we do? We let them have it as long as they want!
**** poor coaching in afraid. Just **** poor.
Stuart79(Quote)
That would have been a **** take if it went in
toonsy(Quote)
8 Against 11 was never fair, McLaren this is total **** AGAIN
ash1001(Quote)
going to rats now aren’t we, we are so so fragile it’s beyond a joke
kimtoon(Quote)
Mitro or Perez or Ronald McDonald anyone but cisse
Ice pup(Quote)
Cisse contributed **** all last week so why does he still play? He’s useless and especially away from home when we need it held up.
Dear God – were as poor as Villa and Sunderland
Stuart79(Quote)
Second division stuff from us with aimless punts upfield. Passing and movement nonexistent.
Groucho(Quote)
only 2 mins et, 😯
kimtoon(Quote)
Cisse and De jong have been complete pants!
georgio(Quote)
This sort of performance has got to be down to the Manager,
ash1001(Quote)
The players are clearly trying, but where are the triangles? We won last week because Liverpool were below par and we tried hard, simple as that. But where are the basic skills?
ToonDarnSarf(Quote)
Only the keeper can say he’s done owt the rest were bags of s hite
Ice pup(Quote)
Just get him out of here! We have no style of play, we don’t know what we’re doing, we don’t press, we don’t pass and where is the game plan?
Pathetic isn’t even covering it.
Be a hell of a turnaround now to stop it being 3 imo
Stuart79(Quote)
Colo totally at fault for the goal he let Dier go across him, the guys a liability now. 👿
kimtoon(Quote)
I would be dropping both Sissoko and Colo I am ******* sick of the pair of em now.
kimtoon(Quote)
