We’re just minutes away from kick-off in the Magpies’ crucial match-up with fellow relegation strugglers Norwich City.

United boss Rafa Benitez has named his starting eleven and looks like this:

After recovering from his knock during the Tyne and Wear Derby almost two weeks ago, Dutchman Daryl Janmaat returns to the starting eleven in his familiar right back position.

Further up the field, striker Pappis Cisse starts a game for the first time since the 19th of December 2015.

  23. Mbemba that was bloody hopeless. Many defenders playing sideways, not looking up for players in space then playing stupid passes for opposition to get hold of. Fortunately Darlow seems up for it. Shelvey is a 3rd CB again because defenders cant pass forward.

  41. Alex Neill was playing suicide football when we smashed them. He learnt from it and adapted. Our lot are just hopeless. Dont have any ability to take in their surroundings, particularly the defenders. Gona give us this wnd half or until we go 2 down then switching off for the season. Only a Toon win will convince me to stay Tooned in. Highly unlikely. Years of sub standard recruitment and complete neglect of the back line has reaulted in this. So painful to watch.

  48. Im sure there will be changes. May try changing formation first before personnel but wouldnt be surprised to see de jong start second half. Could use perez’s movement too.
    Overall been pretty poor.
