Never Mind The Olic!

July 19, 2016July 19, 2016 Andy The Magpie

According to a report in German newspaper Bild, Newcastle United are set to rival Aston Villa for the signature of former Croatia international, Ivica Olic.

God knows why we’re being linked with the experienced Croat. Yes, he’s scored 228 goals in 582 games but 3 in his last 28 is a record which would tell me we need to steer clear of a young player, let alone one who’s 36!

His Wikipedia entry sums it up:

“He retired from professional football after the 2015–16 season”

The report suggests a return to Munich, to TSV 1860 is more likely but with the Premier League awash with cash, everyone assumes we are as well. Given we haven’t sold either of Wijnaldum or Sissoko, that’s a premature conclusion to draw.

Credit to the media for creating a laughable rumour, it’s been a while in coming. Laughable but one that has an uncomfortable ring of truth…

If we wanted a non-scoring centre forward, Stoke are looking to offload Peter Crouch…
