Andy Cole believes that Newcastle United would be making a good move by acquiring the services of Divock Origi from Liverpool.
Newcastle United need to strengthen many areas of their squad during the final few hours of the summer transfer window and bringing in a new striker will be of paramount importance for the Magpies, especially with Aleksandar Mitrovic banned for the next three matches as well as due to the fact that Dwight Gayle could be sold to Fulham.
Liverpool striker Divock Origi has been a name linked with a move to Newcastle over the past few days and a loan move for the Belgian international has been seen as a realistic possibility for the Tyneside based outfit.
It remains to be seen if Newcastle are eventually able to sign Origi, as a host of other clubs are also interested, but nonetheless, former Magpies star Andy Cole has gone on to back the Magpies’ pursuit of the 22-year-old by stating that he would be a good signing for the Premier League outfit.
Cole told talkSPORT when asked whether Origi would be a good signing, “Yeah definitely if they get him because he’s got pace. I think if you’re a centre-forward in the Premier League and got pace, you’re going to cause defenders problems.
“Mostly, that’s what they lack. Mitrovic isn’t going to try go in behind, Gayle’s a good finisher but he’s totally different to Origi if they do get him to come in.”
