Just days after FOUR West Brom stars were questioned over ‘stealing a taxi’ in a drunken night out in Barcelona, Alan Pardew has only gone and started two of them (Evans & Barry) in today’s 1-2 FA Cup defeat to Southampton at the Hawthorns – a result that could now see him sacked according to sources in the Midlands.
Not only that, it has now been confirmed that Pardew himself also had his phone and wallet stolen on the first night of their trip to Spain!
It was Jake Livermore, Boaz Myhill, Gareth Barry and Jonny Evans who were guilty of the drunken antics in Barcelona, however Pardew chose to start both Evans and Barry today – despite admitting how ‘let down’ he was by their actions.
He stated pre-kick off that ‘winning is more important right now’, suggesting he had no intention of punishing those who have brought their club into real disrepute over the last 24 hours. What kind of message does this send out to the rest of the squad I wonder?
Alan Pardew says 'Cab Four' are still in contention to play for #wba tomorrow because winning is more important right now. Also, confirmation head coach had his jacket (including phone and wallet) stolen on first night in Barcelona https://t.co/7zeYs64Qd2

Pardew has also revealed what actually went on that night, explaining how the four senior players in question broke the curfew set by himself:
“It was 12 ‘o’clock because it was a Champions’ League night and I think they kicked off at 9pm.
“So it was a sort of ‘go into the city, enjoy a restaurant and watch the game’.
“I didn’t want anybody to break a curfew. I don’t usually set too many curfews and I’ve had many many trips as you can imagine – mid-season, pre-season, end of season with football teams.
“So I do know how to handle players in terms of their conduct.
“I’ve never had an incident before, so yeah, I’m a bit disappointed.”
The next one to be sacked? It’s looking more and more likely!
