Incredible results emerge after 2,000 NUFC fans vote whether they’d sign Salomon Rondon from West Brom

The Chronicle ran a poll over the weekend and from 2000 voters, 80% said they would like to see us sign Salomon Rondon permanently next summer.

A lot of this will be down to the fact that he had a great game against Bournemouth, showing just how quickly fans perceptions can change after one big performance.

Had the poll have been done a few weeks back, the results would have been a lot different – perhaps even 80% against signing him.

It just shows how fickle some of us football fans can be. A few weeks ago he was a ‘sick note’ and the next Islam Slimani, but two goals and a ‘complete’ performance at St James’ Park later and it seems he’s won many over.

Here’s the Chronicle’s poll:

Rondon got off to slow start but MAY be starting to find his feet. He suits our style of play and given the right service, will score goals, but it is still too early to say if a permanent deal would be a right one.

The results of the poll would probably mirror those of Ki and Fabian Schar. The signings were questioned by the fans when they signed but now after a couple of good performances they quickly becoming favourites, with some even wanting them to be in the team ahead of regulars like Lascelles and Shelvey.

It is good to see the so called fringe players challenging for a first team place and it keeps the ‘regulars’ on their toes, but this shows how quickly football fans opinions can sway!
