NUFC trio Jonjo Shelvey, Mo Diame and Paul Dummett were all nowhere to be seen in training on Thursday – meaning all three look likely to miss the trip to Chelsea in 48 hours time.
With Benitez’s squad short on numbers as it is following Ki and Muto’s Asian Cup involvement, this is the last thing we need.
Shelvey and Dummett are said to have travelled with Barcelona earlier in the week to see a specialist about niggling thigh and hamstring injuries respectively, but it was suggested that both could still be fit for this weekend’s game.
The same was said about Mo Diame, who has been nursing a hip injury after being forced off against Man Utd, however it looks like all three could miss the trip to Stamford Bridge.
There’s still time for them to train before Saturday’s game, but the fact they all missed Thursday’s session suggests they’re facing a serious race against time to be fit – and Benitez isn’t usually one to take risks.
Isnt it possible that Dummett and Shelvey are doing their own thing with regard to recommendations following their trip to Barcelona, but could still play?
