Saint-Maximin sends message to NUFC fans as home debut vs Arsenal ends in defeat

NUFC new boy Allan Saint-Maximin has sent a message to Newcastle fans following his first Premier League appearance at St James’ Park.

The 22-year-old insists that ‘there’s still positive things to take’ from the game despite us being on the losing side, promising fans that he will work hard and do his best to make the toon army proud following his competitive debut for the club.

Here’s what he’s had to say in a message to fans on Twitter on Sunday night:

“We end up on the losing side… but there’s still positive things to take!

“I’m proud to be a part of this team I will work hard and do my best to make you proud!

“Thank you for the love”

The Frenchman showed glimpses during his 25 minute cameo against the Gunners, but was unable to unlock the door, with us struggling particularly in the second half after a promising opening 45.

There’s positives and negatives the game for me – although the negatives will no doubt outweigh the positives given it ended in defeat and we totally fizzled out of the game after a promising first half.

The high press worked well early on, Almiron looked lively and there’s obvious potential in our playing squad, but the tactics on display in the second half seemed a little non existent.

Moving on, you’d like to think the likes of Saint-Maximin, Almiron and Joelinton can cause Norwich real problems next weekend. That game could be the true test of where we’re at.
