Saint-Maximin makes vow to NUFC fans after last night’s awful display at Aston Villa

Allan Saint-Maximin has thanked the travelling Toon Army for their support and apologised for last night’s woeful display at Aston Villa – vowing to ‘work even harder’ to make up for it.

The Frenchman was one of few bright sparks, being one of few players to take the game to the home side, but he insists there can be “no excuses” for the performance, insisting he and the team will work hard to put things right over the coming weeks.

Here’s what he’s had to say on Twitter following last night’s 2-0 defeat:

With Manchester City at home followed by a trip to high-flying Sheffield United and a crucial clash with Southampton at St James’ Park, we have no choice but to be MUCH better in our next three. Last night was unacceptable.

Saint-Maximin tried to make things happen and worked hard, but he can’t do it all on his own.

We looked like a team of individuals last night and that needs to change, with us showing none of the spirit, cohesion and drive that was on show in our last two wins over West Ham and Bournemouth.

  1. Prove it!!

It’s Man City, so I don’t expect to win – but how about one of you front 3 come up with a bloody goal – that would go some way to proving it!!.

I feel like you 3 are getting a free ride & it will be Bruce that takes the flack.
