The Nabil Bentaleb stat only 3 players have bettered across Europe’s top 5 leagues..

NUFC new boy Nabil Bentaleb currently holds one of THE best penalty conversion rates in world football – with only three players from Europe’s top five leagues outperforming him from the spot.

The former Tottenham talent completed a loan move (which includes a £8.5m option to buy) on Tuesday, and a stat that many Newcastle fans may have been unaware of has now emerged.

Bentaleb has scored 14 penalties out of a possible 14 for Schalke – a success rate that’s only been bettered by THREE players across clubs in the English Spanish, French, German and Italian top flights.

Those three are Celta Vigo’s Ryad Boudeboyz – who’s scored all 21 of his career spot kicks – ex-Boro striker Christian Stuani and Werder Bremen star Max Kruse, with the latter duo both converting 16 out of 16.

Some may say this puts a dampener on his respectable tally of 19 goals in little over 100 appearances for Schalke, with his last goal from open play coming in a 3-1 win over Werder Bremen in 2106, but it shows he’s deadly from the spot.

He’s today been handed international clearance, the no.42 shirt and has been declared available for selection against Oxford United on Saturday.

If he features and we get a penalty, we best give it to him!

  1. Do we actually still get penaltys ? I wouldn’t mind seeing how many pens we’ve had over the last three years compared to others.

  2. I don’t think we had a penalty yet this season so not sure that “stat” is of a lot of use to us.

Plus ” his last goal from open play coming in a 3-1 win over Werder Bremen in 2106″.

While time travel is impressive, again it doesn’t help us much.
