Report reveals how NUFC plan to convince Brentford star Said Benrahma to sign this summer

According to the Northern Echo, Newcastle are leading the race to sign Brentford star Said Benrahma this summer.

The Algerian has receiving reported interest from Arsenal, however the Echo claim we’ll offer him ‘regular first-team football’ if and when transfer talks take place this summer – something he won’t be guaranteed with the Gunners.

Brentford were unwilling to sell last month, with them currently in the play off places and pushing for promotion, but Northern Echo reporter Scott Wilson understands their stance would change this summer should they fail to go up.

The piece also confirms we sent a ‘senior scouting delegation’ to watch the 24-year-old in action last weekend – a game that saw him do this to Middlesbrough’s Luke Wing:

Some will argue that a striker should be our top priority this summer and that another winger isn’t needed when we already have Almiron and Saint-Maximin, however a move for Benrahma would be an exciting one.

The former Nice playmaker bagged 11 goals and 17 assists across 2018/19 and is continuing to shine in the second tier this season, with his strike against Leeds on Tuesday night taking his tally up to 9 this term.

One to watch this summer if Brentford fail to go up?
