According to North-East reporter Ian Murtagh, Newcastle United have named Celtic star Odsonne Edouard as our ‘top target’ when the transfer window reopens.
This comes from his latest piece for the Daily Star on Sunday night, which reveals that Steve Bruce and the club’s recruitment team held a ‘series of video meetings’ last week.
In those, it’s claimed all parties decided that the 22-year-old would be our leading target moving forward and the man to solve our goalscoring woes at St James’ Park.
The report also states that, while Celtic are determined to keep a hold of their star man, they’d struggle to turn down an offer in the region of £30m.
Edouard has been outstanding for the Hoops since completing a £9m move from PSG a few years ago, bagging 27 goals and 19 assists this season after 22 goals and 8 assists across their 2018/19 campaign.
It is the SPL – a league considerably poorer than the English top flight – but there’s a reason he’s being described as Celtic’s best talent since Henrik Larsson.
