Takeover “exclusive” reveals what Mike Ashley has now ‘told friends’ about £300m Saudi deal

Mike Ashley has now admitted to friends that a takeover at Newcastle United is ‘closer than it has ever been’, according to an ‘exclusive‘ from the Daily Mail.

Although there’s been no official word from either himself (what a surprise) or the club, Craig Hope’s piece states it’s now SportsMail’s understanding that Ashley – who’s ‘currently in Florida with family’ – has privately confirmed the reports to be true to those close to him.

This comes following news that that PCP Partners have lodged official paperwork to the Premier League, with owner and director checks now underway – signalling the final step of the takeover process.

So, it seems like we’re all just waiting for the big announcement without actually knowing when it’s happening, although a period of ‘3-4 weeks’ is mentioned in the Mail’s exclusive.

Every Newcastle fan is now on high alert to some seemingly imminent good news – so surely now is the time for a club statement to be released to prove these widespread rumours are true?

It would be quite fitting if Mike Ashley left us in the dark until this one is signed, sealed and delivered, but it would be nice to get an official update while we await what could be one of the biggest deals in the club’s history.

  1. The {soap} opera will not be over until the fat lady {don’t snigger} sings. So it is unsurprising that the overweight obergruppenfuhrer does not say anything untl she {or he} does.
