NUFC set to hear if they’ve signed £15m winger on a free ahead of West Ham & Palace – Report

It may seem trivial now a Saudi-backed takeover of Newcastle United appears to have ended in tears, but there’s some interesting transfer news that has emerged this morning.

As revealed in an ‘exclusive’ from the Shields Gazette, the club are hoping to sign former Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser on a free.

They report that we’ve been chasing the 26-year-old since 2019 and even tried to sign him on a pre-contract agreement in May after his refusal to sign a new deal on the South Coast before football resumed.

A few months later, the Gazette report that D-day has arrived, with the speedy Scottish international set to make a decision on his future.

It’s believed he kept his options open over the summer following interest from Arsenal and Tottenham, but with no ‘top six’ clubs coming forward in the end, the above ‘exclusive’ reveals this morning that he’s now set to pick either Newcastle, West Ham or Crystal Palace.

Fraser struggled with fitness and form last season and was often left out of the side due to an ongoing contract dispute, however he was one of the Premier League’s top performing wingers across 2018/19, bagging 8 goals and 15 assists for The Cherries.

With us in desperate need of good news, let’s hope Fraser chooses Newcastle to add some much needed quality to our attack.
