Boris Johnson’s email to NUFC fan goes public as Premier League are told to make takeover statement

The Prime Minister piled some much needed pressure on the Premier League yesterday, asking them to clarify why the Saudi takeover saga has been allowed to drag on so long without any answers.

His full email to a concerned Newcastle fan has now been released, with Boris saying how he “agrees” with the Independent Football Ombudsman’s conclusion that the Premier League are morally obliged to make a statement.

In the message to NUFC fans, which you can read in full below, the PM elaborates further, stating that there must be “clarity on why there was such a significant delay in a decision being made”, following 17 weeks of deadlock:

This also comes on a day where the petition seeking an independent investigation into the Premier League’s takeover process nears 100,000 signatures.

Receiving a message from Boris Johnson shows the power that our supporters can have when we stick together and make our voices heard.

Letters have poured in to the Premier League from our fanbase (almost 7,000 now!) and MPs across the nation have agreed to support our push for answers. This has not gone unnoticed by Amanda Staveley and the Saudi consortium – who commented again last night with a message of thanks to Toon fans.

A statement from Richard Masters surely has to come now. Whether we get the answers we want is another thing, but the Premier League’s position is becoming more untenable by the day.

The HAVE to explain why they failed so miserably to make a decision.

  3. The EPL revisit their owners’ test on a season by season basis and each club has to present a certificate to show their owners and directors are still “fit and proper”. Man City are owned by a member of the same Saudi family yet our application is not approved….. hmmmm

The EPL should be subjected to a root and branch investigation to expose the truth of why they have not given this consortium a decision and it won’t come from Masters because regardless of the pressure he is under due to the MPs and petitions he can simply say well we were still carrying out the test when the consortium withdrew their bid.

There’s a huge difference between getting a reply from Boris and actually getting anything done.

In this instance all making your voices heard achieves is showing the rest of the footballing world that we are a bunch of deluded fans with no sense of morality, who are totally ignorant of world matters.

This is really sad and just shows the world how dumb we really are.

Man City are owned by a member of the UAE royal family. In case you are in any doubt that’s a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT COUNTRY!

Where do fans get this idea that the world hates us? Numerous times we have been quoted by managers, players and other fans as being a big club with amazing fans.

The deal was not stalled because the world hates Byker Grove, or Ant and Dec, or Jimmy Nail.
The deal stalled because we were being taken over by a vicious dictator who thinks it’s OK to kill people he disagrees with, and steal hundreds of millions of pounds from a Premier League partner.

If you believe the world is against us, have you ever considered it might just be you they don’t like?
