NUST issue positive update in bid for takeover answers & Premier League transparency

The Newcastle United Supporters Trust (NUST) have released a positive update to members, detailing some of the progress that has been made over the past week in their bid to gain answers from the Premier League.

They reveal that MPs received OVER 7,000 letters from Newcastle fans pushing for answers from the Premier League, and, as a result, it’s also emerged that week one of the campaign saw 40 MPs commit to the cause and agree to apply some much needed pressure on Richard Masters and Co on our behalf.

In addition, the petition asking for an independent investigation into the EPL takeover process also passed 100,000 signatures over the weekend!

Here’s the NUFC Trust’s latest email to members, highlighting what’s come from a positive first week in their push to apply pressure on the Premier League:

NUST member update – 10th August

Last week we launched a way for you to write to your MP with a letter that asked them to demand transparency from the Premier League.

We have had a brilliant response to this with over 7,000 letters having been sent to MPs since launching.

It’s working – we’ve had approx. 40 MPs now commit to writing to the Premier League and a statement from the Prime Minster of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson supporting calls by the Independent Football Ombudsman asking the Premier League to make a statement regarding the takeover of Newcastle United.

Over 13,000 members strong now we ask that everyone please take 30 seconds and write to their MP using the website linked below. If you have a friend who isn’t a Trust member to share the link with them too.

  1. Really good to see all the fans coming together over this outrageous farce with the PL, also the MPS that have joined usdon’t forget the PM,Mr Boris Johnson, well don’t to you all, only thing missing,if this had been any I the top six clubs the tv and papers would have been all over it ,but alas at the moment we are not in the top six, ,maybe we should have a look at them as well as the PL.

  2. 7000 letters sent, 40 MPs responded positively.
That’s one response for every 175 letters sent or a 0.6% return

Or if you would prefer to do it by percentage of MPs thats 650 MPs and 40 responded positively.
Which would be around 6-7 %

    “A brilliant response……it’s working”

    I think not!

Good to see your glass is half full this morning….

That’s a poor take on it all when FOURTY MPs agree to back a pretty important cause.

  4. The silence from the PL is deafening. I feel they have painted themselves into a corner. I think the only way this is resolved is through legal action of some sort.

theirs only 30 ish Northeast MPs and since most of the letters will be going to the same people, which means that some of the letters are going to Mp’s outside of the northeast and spreading the message even further.

the more people that send the letter to the MPs that harder it is for the Mps to ignore, the more MPs it reaches the more support it gains.
