The official NUFC Twitter page shared some new footage last night, showing new boy Jeff Hendrick getting stuck into training with his new team mates, as well as pictures of Matty Longstaff joining the squad for the first time since he signed a new deal.
Hendrick travelled to the York training camp to finalise his free transfer to Newcastle on Monday, and instantly threw on some training gear and took part in the session after meeting his new Toon teammates:
Hendrick looked to be mingling well and full of smiles, and will hope to make an instant impact in an attempt to tie down a starting role in what has become an extremely competitive central midfield position for us.
As for Matty, it’s more just pure relief to see him in Newcastle colours once again, with him arriving at the York training base just yesterday after putting pen to paper over the weekend.
For a couple of weeks, it seemed as though the youngster would leave his boyhood club and seek pastures new, but it’s great to see he’s now committed to the club – even if a ‘two-year deal’ seems a little odd.
Pictures shared show him involved in training and looking cheerful next to his midfield partner and brother Sean- an image I for one hope to see for years on Tyneside!
