Newcastle United have released photos of the squad following our week-long training camp in York – and it appears there’s FIVE players missing.
Based on the latest pictures shared by NUFC.co.uk, the following 27 players have all travelled and taken some part in the training camp:
- Miguel Almiron
- Christian Atsu
- Dan Barlaser
- Andy Carroll
- Ciaran Clark
- Karl Darlow (GK)
- Martin Dubravka (GK)
- Paul Dummett
- Federico Fernandez
- Dwight Gayle
- Mark Gillespie (GK)
- Isaac Hayden
- Jeff Hendrick
- Emil Krafth
- Dan Langley (GK)
- Jamaal Lascelles
- Florian Lejeune
- Sean Longstaff
- Matty Longstaff
- Javier Manquillo
- Jacob Murphy
- Matt Ritchie
- Henri Saivet
- Allan Saint-Maximin
- Jonjo Shelvey
- DeAndre Yedlin
- Kelland Watts
Of these 27, only Watts (loaned to Plymouth), Dubravka, Langley, Hendrick (signed just yesterday and hasn’t played since March) and Ritchie failed to feature in our 3-0 win over Crewe yesterday.
That leaves the five players missing from the friendly and all training sessions – Joelinton, Fabian Schar, Yoshinori Muto, Rolando Aarons and Achraf Lazaar.
Joelinton and Yoshinori Muto appear to have been given a longer break over pre-season – perhaps to allow for visits back to Brazil and Japan? – while Fabian Schar is not yet fit following an operation on his dislocated shoulder.
As for Rolando Aarons and Achraf Lazaar, we can only presume Bruce has told them not to bother and look for new clubs instead, with the NUFC boss confirming last week that both had been transfer listed.
