NUFC’s best player in 0-7 win asks Steve Bruce to start him at Spurs after Morecambe massacre

After his devastating display at Morecambe, Jacob Murphy is hoping he’s done enough to find a way into Steve Bruce’s side for Sunday’s trip to Spurs.

The winger dazzled down the right wing last night, not only scoring one and setting up another, but regularly beating his man and backing that up with a brilliant ball into the box.

He looked razor sharp, incredibly quick and more confident than we’ve ever seen him look in a black and white shirt – and believes he’s given the boss some ‘food for thought’ ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash with Tottenham.

Here’s what he’s had to say:

“That was my aim, to get into the thinking for Spurs on Sunday.

“That is the manager’s decision and I have to do performances like that to get into his mind.

“I want to keep getting opportunities to play for this club. I have developed my game.

“I am showing a lot more confidence.”

“There will always be setbacks and you deal with them.

“I have stayed grounded and worked hard on the training pitch and I have given the manager food for thought.”

“Hearing what the manager said gives me a lot of confidence. We have several conversations.

“He keeps telling me to be patient and work hard which I have been doing and I know when I get an opportunity I have to perform.”

There were several quality displays in last night’s rout, but Murphy was the pick of the bunch for me.

On another night, he could’ve easily come away with four or five assists!

With Saint-Maximin an early doubt and Bruce confirming after the game that Murphy will be going nowhere this summer, it could be the perfect time to hand him a big chance.

A front four of Wilson, Fraser, Almiron and Murphy, anyone?
