Michael Owen predicts Newcastle United vs Manchester United

Michael Owen has predicted that we’ll earn a point in a tight 1-1 draw against Manchester United on Saturday night.

Our former record signing and Red Devils striker believes that we’ll be full of confidence after our 3-1 win over Burnley almost a fortnight ago and feels we’ll ‘quietly fancy our chances’ here.

Like many others, Owen believes that Man United’s current state of disarray will help us – not only were they just battered 6-1 by Tottenham, but they’re missing Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani, while quarantine rules could yet see Bruno Fernandes miss out.

Here’s what Owen had to say in his latest piece for Bet Victor:

“Newcastle will be more than happy with their start to their campaign.

A 3-1 victory at home to Burnley was a solid enough performance, and I think the Magpies will quietly fancy their chances here.

United come into this in disarray. The result against Tottenham won’t be forgotten quickly and I think it may take a few weeks yet for United to find their feet.

I’m going for a draw.”

Prediction: Newcastle 1-1 Man Utd

For someone who’s so hated on Tyneside – as well as being a pundit with questionable opinions – Owen is spot on here.

We really should be fancying ourselves come Saturday. If anything, we might come away with a draw feeling disappointed. The Red Devil’s look as disjointed as ever and now they’ve got to come to St James’ Park and battle for a result.

The pressure is certainly on Ole – hopefully Steve Bruce’s boys can take the wheels fully off the Norwegian’s bus!
