According to an ‘exclusive’ from TEAMtalk, Liverpool are considering handing a short-erm deal to Daryl Janmaat in a bid to ease their injury crisis at the back.
The 31-year-old is currently training with former club ADO Den Haag after being released by Watford over the summer, and it’s reported today that he’s now under consideration at Anfield.
TEAMtalk also claim that Gini Wijnaldum has given his ex-NUFC teammate and fellow countryman a ‘glowing reference’, with him knowing Janmaat as well as anyone following their time together for club and country.
The report also claims that his ability to play at right-back and centre-back could appeal – although I’m pretty sure he’s only played in the latter position once or twice during an injury crisis of our own on Tyneside!
Although Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez have joined Virgil Van Dijk and Fabinho on the sidelines in recent days, I’d be shocked if Liverpool did turn to Janmaat – an injury prone player who was released by a relegated Watford just a few months ago!
Stranger things have happened given the predicament Liverpool find themselves in, but I’d be surprised if this one actually happened.
