NUFC star now “frustrated” with Steve Bruce for TWO key reasons – The Athletic

The Athletic’s Chris Waugh has revealed that Miguel Almiron has “grown frustrated” at Newcastle United – being unhappy by his lack of game time and Steve Bruce’s decisions to keep playing him out of position.

This comes after yesterday’s explosive interview from his agent claimed that the Paraguayan was pushing for a move away – even stating that he would’ve left by now if it hadn’t been for COVID-19!

Campos, Almiron’s representative, also hinted that the player is fed up with the defensive system on Tyneside and desires a side that adopts a adventurous, possession-based game.

Add to that the fact he spent the opening weeks of the season on the bench and has recently been played as a central midfielder – not in his best position at No 10 – you can see why he’s not best pleased.

Here’s what Chris Waugh has had to say in his latest piece for The Athletic:

Given the sparing way in which Almiron has been used by Bruce, the head coach, this season, and the deployment of the Paraguayan in a midfield role recently, rather than as a No 10 or as an attacking winger, the player is understood to be growing frustrated by his treatment at Newcastle.

The same piece also confirms that Almiron has a release clause in his contract – although Waugh insists that this is “high” and that “Newcastle hold all the cards on it”.

News that Almiron is unsettled comes as a shock to me, with him appearing happy at, constantly playing with a smile on his face and always putting in a shift whenever he wears the black-and-white shirt.

He should be in the team every week, with fans on his side and clamouring for Bruce to give him a proper chance at No 10, with ASM and Fraser either side and Wilson up top in an attacking 4-2-3-1 formation.

Since his arrival, this is the first time Almiron has had a spell on the sidelines and it’s never a good sign when agents, the vermin of modern football, are leaking negative stories to the media.

No doubt there will be more clarity on the situation once Bruce is grilled by the media ahead of this weekend’s clash with Chelsea.
