Newcastle recall THREE players from loan spells after lack of game time – Club statement

Newcastle United have confirmed that U-23 trio Tom Allan, Jack Young and Jake Turner have all been recalled early from loan spells in the EFL – and you can see why when you look at their lack of game time!

Allan had been at League One side Accrington Stanley, with midfielder Jack Young (Tranmere) and goalkeeper Jake Turner (Morecambe) brought back from stint in League Two.

Starting with Allan, the winger – who made his senior debut in the FA Cup last season – has been handed just ONE start for the League One side over the first half of 2020/21.

He made eight appearances in all competitions, but the vast majority of those have come off the bench in the cups – with Accrington also leaving him out of matchday squads in each of their last TEN league games.

Then to blonde-haired midfielder Jack Young – a player Steve Bruce invited to train with the seniors, alongside Allan, at one stage last year.

He’d managed 11 appearances in all for Tranmere, however was only handed starts in four of their 15 games in League Two.

Last but not least, Jake Turner – a 21-year-old goalkeeper we signed from Bolton last summer.

He had started the season well from a game-time perspective, getting 14 straight starts for Morecambe, but that’s taken a swift turn after he’s failed to feature in any of their last seven games in all competitions.

Here’s NUFC’s statement, confirming all three have had their loans spells in the EFL cut short and will now return to our U-23 set up:

Newcastle United have recalled Tom Allan, Jake Turner and Jack Young to the club’s Under-23 side following loan spells with EFL clubs.

Allan returns from League One side Accrington Stanley, while goalkeeper Turner and midfielder Young have been recalled from League Two sides Morecambe and Tranmere Rovers respectively.

All three will return to the Newcastle United Academy to rejoin Chris Hogg’s Under-23 squad.

Let’s hope all three can land far more suitable temporary moves away from Tyneside in the coming weeks!
