NUFC ‘closing in’ on loan deal & make Willems move – Two in, two out in the next 4 days?

Newcastle are ‘closing in’ on a mystery loan deal AND have contacted Jetro Willems over a potential return to St James’ Park, according to The Chronicle’s Mark Douglas.

His latest piece on the transfer front confirms that Bournemouth are back in for Matt Ritchie, revealing that his potential move back to the South Coast could ‘spark some last minute transfer moves’ between now and Monday’s 11pm deadline.

Another player who could be heading out of the exit door is DeAndre Yedlin.

If you believe reports in Turkey and an ‘exclusive’ from The Express, the USA star has ‘agreed a deal in principle’ to join Galatasaray when his contract expires – although it’s claimed he could yet make the move this month.

Back to incomings, The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards’ stated yesterday that an unnamed loan deal was ‘close’ to being unveiled, and it seems The Chronicle have now got wind of this proposed incoming.

As for Willems, Douglas states that we’ve been in contact with the Dutchman and are now ‘interested’ in bringing him back to the club in the next four days.

Willems himself is said to be wanted by Greek side PAOK – who are ironically trying to replace former NUFC target Dimitris Giannoulis after he arrived at Norwich as Jamal Lewis’ replacement (!) – however it’s said he is only has eyes for a dream return to Newcastle United.

The report also states that Willems is ‘fit and match ready’, with him named on the bench in Frankfurt’s 5-1 win over the weekend.

A lot may depend on Matt Ritchie’s potential move to Bournemouth – he’s said to be a big earner at NUFC and we’d also receive a fee – but it seems like it may well be two in, two out on Tyneside over the coming days.

  1. Weren’t we supposed to be getting Philip Billing off Bournemouth as part of the Ritchie deal? Perhaps that’s the mystery deal. Then again I think that was a swap as opposed to loan.
