I cannot believe what Steve Bruce has just said after TWO wins in 18 games…

After the absolute dross of a 0-0 draw with West Brom, Steve Bruce came out with this quote:

“In the last six games, we’ve won two and drawn two, and only lost against Man United and Chelsea, so it’s vitally important to make sure that we keep the run going.”

Never have I ever seen such a losing attitude from a manager.

The definition of a run, in football, is a string of games in which a similar set of results are achieved. You would think that he would know this given the painstaking losing runs he’s experienced in his time as manager.

If he really wants to point towards a run then we have a two-game drawing run, and that’s it. I’m not sure any respectable manager would be cheering a two-game drawing run, however, so in normal circumstances I’d strongly suggest that he doesn’t do that, but looking at what he’s just said, maybe that wouldn’t be the worst thing… If he were to point towards a two-drawing run, then that would be a hell of lot better than pointing at a ‘run’ that isn’t just pathetic but is also completely incorrect!

In the last 6 games we have played: West Brom, Wolves, Manchester United, Chelsea, Southampton and Crystal Palace.

Look at those matches and tell me where the two wins are (clue: you won’t be able to because the only win out of those 6 matches is against Southampton). Also, he seems to have conveniently forgotten the fact we lost at home to an awful Crystal Palace – meaning Man Utd and Chelsea aren’t the only two we were beaten by in this 6-game ‘run’.

Newcastle are now a single point away from the relegation zone and with a much worse goal difference to the two clubs below us. I highly recommend that you brace yourselves and get ready for a third Premier League relegation because we are currently being managed by one of the most inept managers, I have ever had the displeasure to witness being involved with our club.

I’ve personally accepted relegation now, because Steve Bruce has done his damage now and the powers above have failed to act in time to stop him. He still needs to be sacked immediately, however, because he is rotten and the thought of him maintaining his job after singlehandedly dismantling all that made us good under Benitez makes me physically sick.

I don’t care if Graeme Jones is given the job until the end of season, I just need this perennial loser and vindictive man out of my club.

  2. Bruce could be away after Villa thrash us on Friday.
Ashley could repeat his previous mistakes by appointing a new coach and not giving them enough time to change things.
That will be the scenario I suspect, although it could get even worse, the two ostriches could get married and mate for life!

  3. Bruce is an absolute disgrace he has ruined our club, get rid of him and let Graeme Jones finish the season. Hopefully he can bring the players together again and give them some confidence. Bruce can take his compo and go and ruin another club.

  5. Contrary to your definition Merriam-Webster states

Run : a continuous period or series especially of things of identical or similar sort

The important word here is “especially”.

So a “run” is simply “a continuous period or series”.

So I guess that would make 6 games, regardless of results, a “run”
