New Premier League ‘agreement’ says it all – One rule for six, another for the others

Honestly, I despair! There’s not much that riles the NUFC Toon Army much more than a Steve Bruce team selection/talk/post-game interview but the way The Premier League does business is definitely one of them.

The ‘BIG 6’ – and remember two of that ‘Big 6’ didn’t even get into the Top Six – met with Premier League Officials to discuss sanctions and possible penalties after trying one of the biggest power grabs in the history of the Premier League.

After rightly being stopped from being part of the Europa Super League or whatever it was going to be called they were also rightly advised that they would be punished for attempting such a move.

Points deductions? Record fines, bans from Europe were all discussed in the media and amongst football punters. But as soon as you knew that they had a say in their own punishments you just knew the whole thing would be a joke and boy were we right.

They have each been fined the equivalent of £3.5 million!!! Most of them can make more than that on one single home match. The result and judgement are utterly shambolic and a massive insult to the smaller clubs in England.

Remember QPR were fined approx. £45 mil when they were deemed to be in breach of the Fair Play Procedures following their one, yes one, season in the Premier League. Bury were cast aside and allowed to fold. Bolton a fairly recent Premier League side are close to liquidation.

Then we have the points deductions incurred by the likes of Wigan – 12 points, Luton – 30 points and Sheffield Wednesday who have now ended up in League 1 (Third Division!). So, is it a case of smaller mistakes, bigger fines? It would appear so and that’s quite honestly disgraceful.

Definitely a case once again of the ‘BIG 6’ flexing their muscles and showing that they as puppet-masters dictate the tune that Premier League P(m)uppets have to dance too. It’s oh-so obvious who runs the game in this country and it’s not those that are supposed to.

All of which makes me and several others wondering if Ashley should just do the ‘deal’, make us one of the ‘BIG 6’ as a result and then the new owners will not face much in the way of sanctions for flouting rules.

After all, they wouldn’t kick us out of the Premier League for doing so, would they?

  1. What’s written is exactly right, its one rule for us and one for the “Sinister Six”
They should be facing fines of upwards 25-30 million each, 12 points – 20 points deduction, but as they control the league and decided their own punishments (wow…just wow) it was never going to happen and end up farcical
