Newcastle eyeing double loan deal as club open talks with Premier League talent – Report

NUFC are in the hunt for Chelsea youngster Conor Gallagher and have already held talks about a possible loan deal, according to The Northern Echo.

The piece insists that Joe Willock remains our top target, but it seems Steve Bruce is looking to sign BOTH midfielders on loan, with the club stepping up their interest in Gallagher as we wait for Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to make a decision on our former loanee.

Gallagher spent last season at West Brom and was one of the only bright sparks in a campaign that ultimately ended in relegation.

The 21-year-old was part of the England U17 side that won the World Cup back in 2017, but has a long list of stars ahead of him in the Stamford Bridge pecking order.

The report suggests that Chelsea are keen to see him loaned out to another top flight, but are not interested in selling their asset while his career is still in its infancy.

Although we face competition from Crystal Palace, it’s believed that any plans to sign Gallagher would not scupper a move to bring Joe Willock back to St James’ Park – despite the fact we are being made to wait by Arsenal.

After our 1-0 preseason defeat to York City, Steve Bruce reiterated that Willock’s future lies in Arsenal’s hands, but the Northern Echo insist that, despite both players being attacking midfielders, a move for one doesn’t necessarily rule out a pursuit for the other.
