Premier League giants on verge of signing top Newcastle United talent – Reports

Various media outlets are reporting that Liverpool are on the verge of signing highly-rated Toon youngster Bobby Clark.

16-year-old midfielder Clark, son of our former player Lee, is one of our most promising academy products and has attracted admirers both in England and from the continent for his performances last season.

He played for our U18 side when he was just 14 back in 2019, and his displays ever since have clearly interested Jurgen Klopp’s scouting network.

Clark has also represented England at youth level, with The Chronicle reporting that we have offered him a professional contract but are leaving it up to the player and his family to decide on what happens next.

The Longstaff brothers have managed to break through from our youth set-up in recent years and with Steve Harper now in charge of the club academy, it is hoped we can now blood youngsters into the side more regularly.

While training at one of Europe’s biggest clubs has its obvious positives, the path to the first-team is often blocked by a barricade of world class players.

Few Newcastle fans may have heard of this kid before the news broke last night, but other clubs poaching our youth players is never a good sign.
