Newcastle now looking to secure late ‘freebie’ as La Liga talent becomes available – Alan Nixon

Newcastle are showing late interest in Valencia midfield Kang-In Lee, according to The Sun’s Alan Nixon.

The journalist – who was first to call moves to Tyneside for Federico Fernandez and Rodrigo Vilca – claims that the South Korean star has been allowed to leave the La Liga side on a free.

As a result, he reports that Newcastle, Wolves and Southampton are all eyeing late moves for the 20-year-old, with RCD Mallorca also keen.

This isn’t actually the first time we’ve been linked with a move for the Kang-In Lee, as

The fact Valencia are allowing him to leave on a free will raise eyebrows, however the Spaniards can only sign three non-EU players – and they’ve just signed a 4th, but can’t register him.

With Kang-In Lee refusing to sign a new deal and free to speak to other clubs in January ahead of his contract expiring next summer, it seems they’re happy to let him go.

The player himself is an attacking midfielder who can also operate down either wing, having bagged four goals and three assists during his time in La Liga.
