NUST bid to buy a stake in Newcastle United – ‘Good news’ as fund hits landmark figure

An update from the NUST (Newcastle United Supporters Trust) on the 1892 Pledge Scheme – the fan-led project bidding to buy a stake in NUFC:

As Newcastle United lose again, as the manager states fans are only upset because of what journalists report (like we can’t see for ourselves) there is some good news….

The 1892 Pledge Scheme this week reached £150,000 in pledges.  Newcastle United fans continue to do something unique and positive for the future of this football club.

Over 2,300 fans are making regular monthly pledges by direct debit into the 1892 Pledge Scheme in the hope of a better future that involves Newcastle United fans at the heart of the club.  At the time of writing £158,000 has been raised as we continue to plan for the worst case scenarios that so many other big football clubs have found themselves in due to poor ownership.

If this football club is to be relegated (and it is currently one of the favourites with bookmakers to be relegated) there could be no miraculous third instant come back to the Premier League.  We need to be ready and we will be ready if the club sinks and then sinks again. We need to be ready to be at the table with a chunk of money if the club is sold or if the club needs to be saved.

As the team seems to get worse and the manager takes aim at fans and journalists, we need to be prepared.

Thousands are pledging monthly and nearly 6,000 NUFC fans have made a pledge of some sort.  Thank you to everyone who is making a difference and making a stand.

The future will be fan-led.  Join us now. No Pledge is too small, they all count and they all matter.

  1. Clueless and deluded. I think that sums it up best.
Are they seriously planning for us to be relegated, not once but twice?
And if that happens do they honestly believe that Ashley would sell at a ridiculously low price just to get out? They know nothing about Ashley, and they know nothing about business.
