Amanda Staveley’s advisor tells Newcastle United to strike £20m deal in January – Report

Conor Coady is the latest player who’s been added to Newcastle’s January shortlist, according to The Sun’s Alan Nixon.

The Wolves captain is reportedly a “huge favourite” of Frank McParland’s – an advisor to Amanda Staveley who is expected to take a role at the club, the piece claims.

28-year-old Coady only signed a five-year deal last season and is settled in Wolverhampton, having guided them from the Championship and becoming skipper upon promotion in 2018.

However, money talks and our new owners are not short of it, but would it be enough to tempt the England international?

A £20million price tag has been mooted, which seems relatively cheap considering Coady is entering his prime years.

He would certainly help shore up our leaky backline that has already conceded a whopping 20 goals this season, also being able to add some much needed leadership to this Newcastle United side.

Would you like to see us make a move for Coady in January? Here’s what he had to say about the club when asked about the Saudi-backed takeover earlier this month…

  1. The clubs will be asking telephone numbers when we want to buy anyone now!
Their morals or lack of them will be undoubtedly be forgotten despite all their protestations, and will gladly take the big bucks!
These petty clubs have conveniently forgotten that Ashley has not invested in Newcastle for at least ten of the fourteen years he was in charge, and siphoned money off to purchase House of Fraser, free advertising etc.
We were a top six club when he took over and now we are in danger of being relegated for a third time thanks to him, while these clubs like Wolves, Leeds, Leicester, Villa and the big six have all prospered with various owners who deal in squeaky clean money I suspect?
It’s about time Newcastle we’re given the rub of the green, and I’m looking forward to us gaining our rightful place at the top table where we belong.
