Eddie Howe delay explained in Friday night update from Fabrizio Romano – “There’s still something to be fixed”

Sky’s Fabrizio Romano has issued an update on Eddie Howe’s proposed appointment in the last few moments.

The journalist reports that an announcement on his arrival has been delayed slightly as there is a small issue that needs to be ‘fixed’ regarding one of the staff members he wants to bring with him to St James’ Park.

Romano insists that there is a ‘verbal agreement’ in place between Howe and Newcastle over a deal that would see him sign until 2024, but it seems there may be one final hurdle to overcome before his arrival can be confirmed.

Here’s what the reporter told his 5.6million followers on Friday night, explaining why an official announcement is yet to arrive:

Eddie Howe not announced yet as new Newcastle manager as there’s still something to be fixed to reach an agreement with his technical staff members. #

Newcastle board on it since today morning

NUFC Verbal agreement already reached with Eddie Howe deal until June 2024.

With Jason Tindall, Stephen Purches and Simon Weatherstone – three men Howe worked with at Bournemouth – expected to join him on Tyneside, it makes you wonder if there’s been a slight issue with there?

Let’s hope this is sorted ASAP and Howe is watching from the stands for tomorrow’s game as the new Newcastle United manager!

  1. I guess we’ll be seeing you all later then,or maybe not,but never mind someone else will take the managers job without any hitches,so there isn’t any real concern at this moment in time.Everything will work out for the best in the long run.

  2. The only thing that is stopping this happening is that the consortium has told Jones he will be assistant to the manager that comes in, Howe has his own staff and wants them there, maybe that’s why we haven’t got a manager before

  3. NEED to clear ALL obstacles for Howe = get rid of Fraser and Jones isn’t what he and NUFC need

Bet Richie is LB again tomorrow against Brighton (!!!??)

Proves Jones has been running the show all season & it’s a shambles

  6. Jones has done nothing wrong.
He’s a very experienced coach and has stepped in and so far has stolen a point we didn’t deserve.

I think people are inventing problems where there are none.

I suspect Frazer and Howe are very close and we’ll see a new player emerge.
Howe brought Jones into Bournemouth so he must respect his skills.

Jason Tindall is at Sheff Utd, Stephen Purches (not employed?) and Simon Weatherstone is at Bournemouth. I guess one of these clubs is trying to hang on to their man or angling to get a payout?

Happy times guys … these people are quality, in a different class to Bruce, Carver, McClaren & Pardew.

Fonseca looked great but doesn’t know the league and this squad isn’t good enough to completely change styles and philosophy from the relegation zone.

100% behind Howe. He’ll bring in grafters not primadonnas.

100% behind Jones and Frazer too.
