Newcastle agree loan deal as top talent looks set for spell in the Championship – The Athletic

Elliot Anderson finally looks set to seal a much needed loan move away from St James’ Park.

As revealed by The Athletic this morning, the framework of a deal has been agreed to send the 19-year-old attacking midfielder to Luton Town for the second half of the season.

This could give him some vital game time in the Championship, with the Hatters known for their impressive recruitment as they continue to punch above their weight in the second tier.

They had attempted to bring Anderson – the club’s most exciting young talent – to Kenilworth Road this time last year, however Steve Bruce bizarrely put the blockers on that move.

This was a frustrating decision from the former NUFC boss, with Anderson failing to feature over the second half of the 2020/21 season and going on the get injured as he continued to play within our U23 set up.

However, Eddie Howe has now agreed to loan him out ahead of Chris Wood’s arrival on Tyneside, and had nothing but good things to say about the local lad when speaking ahead of last week’s FA Cup clash with Cambridge:

“Joe White and Elliot Anderson are very good technical players. I’ve been really impressed with them and their attitudes as well, it’s spot on. Really, really good. I see a really bright future for both players here.”
