Newcastle submit second bid for Diego Carlos as club eye double signing – The Telegraph

According to The Telegraph, Newcastle United have launched a fresh bid for Sevilla centre-back Diego Carlos.

This comes from their Chief Football Correspondent, Jason Burt, who claims that we are awaiting a response from the La Liga side as we push to sign both Chris Wood and Carlos in time for Saturday’s clash with Watford.

The same reporter revealed last week that a move for the Brazilian was ‘gathering pace’, however updates on our attempts to sign the 28-year-old had gone quite up until now.

It seems our initial offer was rejected by the Spaniards, so we’ll have to hope this new and improved bid is enough to tempt them into a sale; especially when a move for fellow centre-back target Sven Botman appears to have stalled.

On a positive note, The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards did reveal just a few days ago that Carlos is keen on a move to St James’ Park – despite the fact they are 2nd in La Liga and still in Europe – with him also claiming this afternoon that there’s ‘some optimism’ we’ll be able to strike a deal in time for this weekend’s game.

The Athletic did state last week that Sevilla were showing signs they’d sell at the right price, so let’s hope our latest offer – which is thought to be around £28m if talkSPORT are to be believed – is enough to tempt them.

Fingers crossed, folks!

They all do at every club its called football, look at Salah at Liverpool ?
Wake up man, nobody gives a monkeys what they are paid now its all obscene, will he improve the squad that’s all that matters. Is it right that a surgeon saving your child’s life works years to earn what a premier league player earns in a month, of course not, the money doesn’t matter that ship has sailed

  4. Yes, he will improve the team. Let’s face it our Centre Backs are the laughing stock of the EPL. They are all slow and cannot pick a pass to save their lives, and I include our captain in that assessment. Let’s get Diego Carlos in today so he can play on Saturday. I’m getting sick of saying it, we’re the richest club in the world and we are missing out on players for the sake of a few million. How much will we lose dropping to the Championship? HWTL
