NUFC handed double injury boost & Toon target in Dubai as club wait for green light – Report

The day after Saturday’s huge win at Leeds, The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards revealed that Newcastle were worried a ‘nasty-looking’ injury to Joelinton would force them to step up their search for another midfielder.

However, a surprising yet very positive update has arrived this morning on the Brazilian’s fitness, with The Mail’s Craig Hope reporting that the groin injury that forced him off at Elland road is NOT serious.

He even claims that the 25-year-old is expected to be fit for our clash with Everton in two weeks time, while Ryan Fraser is also believed to be OK, according to The Chronicle.

The Scot was limping badly towards the end of Saturday’s win, however it’s reported that he’s suffered no major injury and was instead suffering badly from camp; which is no surprise given the shift he put in!

Back to Craig Hope and talk of a move for Jesse Lingard, he claims that the 29-year-old is currently in Dubai with Marcus Rashford, with Newcastle still waiting to hear whether our latest loan bid for the midfielder has been accepted by Man Utd.

Hopefully Anthony Martial’s imminent move to Sevilla does impact our chances of landing Lingard, especially when he is just a short flight from our warm-weather training camp in Saudi Arabia…
