Relegation rivals pull off shock wins as two results go against NUFC today – Updated PL table

Newcastle’s 1-1 draw at West Ham felt like a good point in the circumstances, however results elsewhere on Saturday afternoon have created cause for concern on Tyneside.

We went five clear of the drop zone after today’s early kick off, yet Watford and Burnley have BOTH pulled off huge away wins this afternoon, with the Hornets winning 1-0 at Aston Villa and the Clarets battering Brighton 3-0 at The Amex.

Here’s the results in the Premier League this afternoon, with Norwich taking the lead at Anfield before losing 3-1, Brentford losing 2-1 at Arsenal and Everton’s slump continuing with a 2-0 defeat at Southampton:

  • West Ham 1-1 Newcastle
  • Brighton 0-3 Burnley
  • Aston Villa 0-1 Watford
  • Liverpool 3-1 Norwich
  • Arsenal 2-1 Brentford
  • Southampton 2-0 Everton

So, Brentford and Everton suffer defeats once again, Norwich lose despite taking a shock lead, but Burnley and Watford both pull off huge away wins.

Here’s the updated Premier League table (bottom half) after today’s results, leaving us four clear of the bottom three.

Burnley having two games in hand is a concern, however we have TWO games in hand on Brentford and will go above the Bees if we beat them next weekend.

What a huge game that promises to be…
