Kieran Trippier shares Allan Saint-Maximin story – “It’s mental…I’ve never seen anything like it!”

Kieran Trippier admits he’s “never seen anything like” Allan Saint-Maximin in 13 years of playing professional football.

During his appearance on the True Geordie podcast, the former Atletico Madrid star was asked just what the enigmatic Frenchman is REALLY like.

He’s revealed the moment he refused to pass to any of his teammates in a six-a-side training game – despite his best attempts to bring him down! – and explained just how “mental” it is to play alongside the 24-year-old talent.

Trippier accepts that he does sometimes need to release the ball a “little bit earlier” and get his head up if he’s to reach his huge potential, revealing that he’s said as much to Saint-Maximin himself during one-to-one chats on Tyneside.

That said, he believes ASM proved in our away win at Leeds that he’s willing to work hard for the team, saying the player himself is aware that he needs to pull his weight if he wants to “win the Ballon d’Or” or become a regular in the French national side.

Here’s a snippet from Trippier’s comments on Saint-Maximin:
