According to reports in Italy, Newcastle are preparing a £17m bid for Torino defender Wilfried Singo this summer.
This comes from Torino Granata – a local paper in Turin – who claim that we are ‘leading the race’ to sign the 6ft 3′ right-back who can also operate at centre-back.
The report states that he’s now ‘unlikely’ to join Juventus and will ‘almost certainly’ be a Premier League player next season – stating the 21-year-old’s impressive physicality makes him tailormade for English football.
Elsewhere, the Northern Echo claim that the club are eyeing a double swoop for Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara and Aston Villa loanee Matt Targett.
It’s believed the latter could be our first summer signing, with the club negotiating a £15m clause that would allow us to sign the left-back on a permanent deal.
As for Kamara, the report states that he’s seen as an ‘extremely desirable’ option given he’ll be available on a free transfer once his contract in France expires in a few months time.
He will demand big wages and have several clubs to chose from, but the versatile 22-year-old – who can operate at as a CM or CDM – would be a real coup and a signing that would help us overcome potential FFP issues.
