New owners’ stance on Allan Saint-Maximin’s future revealed after ‘£60m fee’ deterred Arsenal

According to i news, Newcastle United have zero interest in cashing in on Allan Saint-Maximin this summer.

Mark Douglas claims that he remains a ‘central part’ of Eddie Howe’s future plans and is a ‘huge favourite’ of our new owners.

Interestingly, his latest piece for i news reveals that the Frenchman received plenty of interest from ‘England and Italy’ last summer, however Mike Ashley’s asking price of £60m put off any potential buyers.

One club believed to be keen was Arsenal, however it seems the fee demanded by the former NUFC owner was enough to make them look elsewhere.

The Frenchman has been at the centre of some unfair criticism on social media in recent weeks, with a few too many Toon fans questioning his trip to France, as well as his cameos in late defeats to Chelsea and Everton.

However, the winger wasn’t 100% fit at the time – he was managing an ongoing calf injury that hadn’t allowed him to train – and even sent a message to his doubters soon after on Instagram, stating “People forget quickly, but I know what to do to restore their memory.”

Some, with Eddie Howe identifying the electric ASM as a “huge, huge player” for the club and our new owners having no interest in selling this summer, let’s hope we can see the 25-year-old show both us and the France national team what he’s capable of between now and the end of the season.

Now he’s fit again following a week of training in Dubai, I have a feeling we’ll see the best of Allan Saint-Maximin over the coming months.
