PSV star opens the door to Newcastle United move after January ‘interest’

Ibrahim Sangaré has opened the door to a potential move to Newcastle United this summerpsv, revealing it is a “dream” of his to play in the Premier League.

The towering PSV midfielder was first linked during his time at Toulouse, however it seems we are still admirers of the 6ft 3′ Ivorian.

Dutch outlet Voetbal International reported in January that the player himself was aware of our interest but unlikely to leave midway through the season, but Sangaré has now talked up a potential move to England this summer – just a few months after PSV chief John De Jong confirmed he was attracting Premier League interest.

Speaking to De Telegraaf, here’s what the 24-year-old had to say when asked about his future:

“I am a PSV player, and I am concentrating on the three games we have left this season,”

“I don’t have my head in other things. After that, I’ll go on holiday, and I’ll have time to talk about possible next projects, but until then I don’t want to worry about that.

“Playing in the Premier League is not only a dream of mine but a dream of every footballer.

That is the biggest and most important league in the world.

“As a little boy in Ivory Coast, Chelsea was the club of my heart. Because Didier Drogba, the best Ivorian striker ever, played there. He is one of my great idols.

“Later, I also became a fan of Manchester City when Yaya Touré played there. Like me, he played in midfield.

Drogba and Touré are the great legends of Ivorian football. Players who really put African football on the map.”

With our midfield in need of another ball winner who is able to break up the play, distribute well and provide a big physical presence, Sangare could be the perfect number six for Eddie Howe and a realistic, yet exciting signing to target this summer.

With him desperate to play in the Premier League, a good age at 24, a player of huge potential and unlikely to cost silly money, this could be one to watch over the coming months.
