Toon ‘in talks’ with Man City as new owners eye another key off-field appointment – Report

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Newcastle are ‘in talks’ with Manchester City scout Samuel Fagbemi over the possibly of hiring him as our head of youth recruitment.

Fagbemi has already developed into one of the top scouts in the country with Arsenal previously wanting him to join their scouting department back in 2019 and work alongside Mikel Arteta.

During his time at Man City, Fagbemi has discovered the likes of Edozie, Bynoe-Gittens & Josh Wilson Esbrand and Lavia, all of whom are top prospects and youth internationals.

With Dan Ashworth now on his way to Tyneside this summer, the arrival of the Nigerian-born scout would be the second big change the owners have put in place as they begin their long-term project.

Hopefully this will be just the start of our youth recruitment overhaul and the club will, for the first time in well over a decade, look to develop local talent through the academy and gradually into the first team.

  1. We should be talking to whichever club has the least soft tissue injuries.
Our appalling injury record is something we need to sort out.
